@Jessica Booker i have looked to book train tickets to an open day and the ticket prices are £200. 200 great British pounds ridiculous. I live in the UK. The email the firm sent regarding reimbursement states they’ll only reimburse up to £150. Is it best to decline my space on the open day. I have looked at flights which in itself is crazy seeing as I’m in England. Flights are £300.
Travel outside of the UK and back in for less maybe? What's the nearest airport and how much is it to go to Paris? Is it cheaper now? Then get that quick turnover in to London and bosh.

Oh maybe fly to Cardiff, then train in to London? 👀

Does anyone know if Kirkland takes non-law trainees? Their website states they provide sponsorship for PGDL, but I recall someone on this thread mentioning they do not in practice take in non-law people.

I can’t do that as i need to travel the day of and it’d take too long. Thank you for the suggestion.

They take non-law. In fairness, I don’t know the %. But I know non-law trainees there.

Pretty sure Davis Polk is the only firm to not take non-law.

And unrelated, but, if you’re a law or non-law graduate, you can only apply to Sullivan for a direct TC (not a VS). Adding this here for everyone to read because the firm really doesn’t make it obvious enough

Currently writing my application for Herbert Smith Freehills’ Summer Vacation Scheme and hoping to have it submitted by the end of tomorrow. I am nervous as I was so close previously and received an Assessment Centre offer. However, I had to withdraw due to health reasons but let’s see how this application goes!

The next application to complete this week after Herbert Smith will be Freshfields I reckon :)

Shame I cannot apply to DLA Piper yet due to being a non-law student as that would have been great! Good luck to all with their applications and well done to those with Assessment Centre offers and Vacation Scheme positions :)

One day.. ONE DAY we will look back and laugh at all these struggles!! The fact that we have to donate a kidney just to get considered for an open day is actually hilarious (I say this now but you should see my face whenever I get the rejection emails lmao).

I’m at work, sneaking in some uni studies and planning my next application tonight. What a life!

    We must prevail!!! 🤺🤺

Have you looked at a coach? its very slow but cheap! - You could catch one the night prior and pay £60 for a hotel in a premier inn for the night.
