what would you suggest if I have an offer for a vac scheme that expires soon, but I'm still waiting to hear back from an AC. I do suspect that I haven't gotten a place at the second vac scheme as I think lots of offers have gone out, would it just be safer to accept this first one while I can? Also should I ask if I could move the second one to summer now, or wait and see if I get a place first? thank you!
Accept the VS you have and in the meantime politely request for the second one to be moved to summer. If you get the vac scheme and they move it everything is fine. If you get it but they cant move it choose which scheme suits you.

Yeah most likely I imagine they will ask about PE because that’s their main client base and focus in London. In my application I wrote about my interest in IPT transactions and antitrust as well. I’m not sure if I would become a debt finance lawyer but then again, never say never. I might even end up in tax or something lmao. 🤣
For people who intend to apply to Paul, Weiss next year, which do you think is more important: ensuring our application answers the questions, learning how to respond to Amberjack assessments, or both?

I imagine it’s both because Paul said they assess applications and test scores together to decide who to invite to AC. I’m not too sure what their benchmarks are or what they look at to determine whether the applications and test scores are good enough. I don’t think my test scores were super high they were sort of in the middle. In terms of my application, my stats are not astronomically high so I am hoping it was my answers to the questions that they liked.

I think more emphasis would be placed on the written application. The application answers are the only thing that can be assessed objectively. Things like academics and work experience depend on your background in my opinion, so it’s more likely to be subjectively judged. Some people have access to certain things that others don’t. 🙂
