Hi @Jessica Booker or anyone who can help.

I want to use the rare word ‘intrapreneurial’ in one of my law applications but All Hires is not recognising it as a word, and have put a red squiggly line beneath it.

If I use this word, am I risking the law firm thinking I’ve misspelt entrepreneurial? Or will they likely have come across this before?
I don’t think this word is in the Oxford English Dictionary. The OED isn’t a language bible, but it’s a generally good tool to see what’s professional standardised English or not.

If it were me reading this word, I think I’d most likely assume you misspelt entrepreneurial tbh, unless I googled it. It’s probably better to be cautious

Edit: ignore me, it is in the OED!
I’d still be very cautious in its use. I’ve personally never seen this word before (so thanks for introducing me lol).

I think recruiters generally prefer when you write in super clear, basic English.

Of course, I could be totally wrong here. I’m very interested to hear others’ opinions on the word and similar, unusual words

not yet, odd though bc they sent that email at the start of the week saying they will be informing by the end of the week?
these guys are liars man- if a grad recruiter at a law firm told me it was raining tomorrow, I'd wear my sunglasses; wouldn't trust a word they say lol

I think the context in which this is being used will need to be clear as it won’t be a term everyone has heard of before (and it’s not a commonly used term in law firms) - it is fine to use it but the context in which you are using it should ensure that it isn’t misinterpreted as a mistake.

yeah super weird tbh I dunno if we should assume it’s a no if we don’t get a reply by today
I don’t think you can assume that. All it would take is for someone to be off ill/ on leave unexpectedly and a deadline they were aiming for could easily be pushed back.

I'm actually ineligible for S&C VS. I'll be applying for their TC. 13 firm's rejections overall now.

I did the BM test yesterday. It didn't go especially well, honestly.

Applications left to do: Fried Frank; McDermott, Will & Emery; Paul Hastings (all for direct TCs).

I want to apply to Ashurst too. But I found their tests impossible.
