Hey, as someone who studied law I found that the Forage internships are really useful to get yourself familiar with legal documents such as term sheets, SPAs, employment contracts etc. The Slaughter and May programme literally provides you with an exemplar term sheet and goes through each section with an explanation. If you do enough of them, you’ll see that the exercises are very similar to what you get in ACs and you’ll be familiar with the documents involved in a transaction or shareholder agreement so it won’t be so foreign to you. Even though I studied law, of course we aren’t exposed to practical documents during our degrees, so Forage has really been helping me in that sense. Hope this helps and be kind to yourself, you got to a Linklaters AC which is defo something to be proud of :)
hi! thank you so much for this :)))

Has anyone heard from Addleshaw Goddard at all? I am still waiting since submitting the app/test in early January.
They have done VI’s, AC’s and given out offers but people are still getting invites to all stages. I believe they only send out rejections once all places are filled up so they can have everyone in reserve until then

If you have enough time before your TC starting then part time might be an option where firms do not have bespoke SQE prep courses.

I would expect those firms who use BARBRI would be flexible particularly with location as it’s effectively an online course.

I’d also say the higher the maintenance grant, the more likely there won’t be flexibility with location as that grant is calculated on the basis of you living in the location of their preferred supplier.

Firms may consider personal circumstances on a case by case basis - but I think it would need to be something more substantial than just wanting to be out of the U.K. (and that could raise a bit of a red flag to them too).
Ooooh thank you for this. I think more than a part-time arrangement, what I would ideally like is something remote. Very useful to know BARBRI is a remote online course. I suppose if I get enrolled onto a course, I could always check with the firm closer to time
