Did anyone else do the simmons recorded interview questions? I found them so difficult

I haven't done them, but may I ask if they were of the competency/motivational type or were there commercial questions/curve-ball types?

I think most people aren’t like this though in that despite them having an anonymous forum name, they don’t go out their way to be nasty to people under the guise that they can get away with it. 🙂

Perhaps where people who go against the TCLA forum guidelines, then something like this could be initiated. I think most people on this forum are really nice tbh. 🙂

I agree. There are a few users that do, but it's not many.

But, removing anonymity wouldn't be a problem for those that use it as a forum for information and advice. It would only be a concern for those that are abusive or belittling...

The attitude of some of the users on here quite often shocks me, but, I think you'd see a marked change in tone and in responses to questions if anonymity was lifted.

Perhaps it's pie in the sky, but I have often thought about it.

It's frightening how differently people behave when hidden behind the cloak of online anonymity.

I believe that requiring users to display their legal name would make a difference. The Times online recently implemented a similar policy, mandating that users show at least their last name and first initial. I have noticed that since this, the number of unacceptable (racist, misogynistic, classist etc) comments under articles has dropped significantly.

Maybe you could initiate something similar @Jaysen @Jessica Booker

This is something we'd never do: for the seven years I've been running TCLA, the community has been amazing. We always get a couple of people every year who are difficult, but this is the nature of a forum of this size.

I think anonymity is really important in an industry like this. The legal community is very small and people are understandably cautious about their public profile when entering the legal profession. It helps for people to have a space to honestly open up about how they are feeling.

For any grads on here, in interview how often are you questioned on how you have spent your time after graduating or why you have failed to secure a TC yet?

This has never come up for me. Quite literally *never* come up and I graduated a while ago.

Caveat: Everything I did since graduating is clearly stated in my CV so perhaps they see a clear trajectory? Not sure.
