I am applying for a smaller city firm which has a question focused on its client base - I cannot find information on the firm's clients as the Legal 500 and Chambers have limited information for this firm - does anyone have any advice on how I can approach this?

I’m in the process of applying to Freshfields and I’m wondering if not attaching my CV will negatively affect my application. I’ve already completed the Vantage work experience section, but I’m not entirely happy with my CV at the moment and would prefer not to submit it.

Would anyone have insights on whether this could impact my application?

Thanks in advance!

No need to submit a CV - you won’t be at a disadvantage.

I recommend two things here:
1. Look at the firm's Linkedin page and go through its 'posts' on Linkedin - here, you might have some press releases relating to recent deals / matters the firm has worked on, which would usually include disclosing the client in question.
2. Look at the profiles (on the firm website and Linkedin) of certain key partners at the firm. Here, you might also find 'selected representations' or Linkedin posts related to the work that that particular partner has done (be careful here regarding the representations on the firm website though, as these can sometimes relate to work that the partner did at a previous firm!)

Hope that helps :) It is difficult when researching smaller firms as they aren't plastered all over the FT!

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is coping ok and getting through this cycle as best you can 💖

Just wondering if anyone, past or present, progressed with Ropes and Gray and might be able to give any pointers on the application. It’s a real favourite of mine but my grades are poor (reasons for it but still…). My USP is work experience but that isn’t presentable. How do I write an answer compelling enough to get through to next stages with naff grades? I need to work extra hard in my answer to stand out positively so would really appreciate any insight or guidance at all.

Thank you so much in advance 🙏 unfortunately I’ve not progressed beyond app really so can’t share much by way of insights but I’ll happily offer moral support in abundance! X
