Very impressive! Keep going, you will get a TC this cycle.

Do you mind if I DM you regarding Willkie?

Caught COVID at the end of last month (must've been while attending a firm's open day ironically) and I'm just getting back to not being bedridden now, that's about 2-3 weeks behind on Forage VIs and applications 😭 going to have to put in a herculean effort to make up for it towards the end of the year. Also wondering whether I should even apply to that firm at this point because at their open day they said to apply end of Nov/early Dec to have a chance of the application being successful (deadline January but rolling) :(
drop the forage to ease the workload, they aren't that important

convinced they front load it based on their CAPP Assessment. I scored in the 93rd percentile for WG and got PFO
Sorry to hear that. Do you mind saying which attributes did you get on Capp Assessment?

I got high score in Respect and Working with other and low in Leadership preference. Don't know if it is enough for the next stage.

I also got my lowest as leadership preference (high as respect and critical thinking) and honestly I took that as a positive because it’s not one of the ones where you’re definitely screwed if you get it as your worst: if you had either or your top two as your worst then it would be far more of a red flag and not everyone needs to be a leader, it’s not the same as showing autonomy and initiative. Plus when you view those results in context of the test, the β€˜working with others’ and β€˜leadership preference’ answers are usually going to be opposite options where you can’t choose an answer that displays both because of the format of the test - I’m sure there are very common best/worst combinations that the firms are aware of

Did they say if they automatically reject applications from people who would not meet the skilled worker requirement? Even for vac schemes?
In the email they said "AG does not make any recruitment decisions based on immigration status and individuals will be assessed on their merits alone." So I'm guessing no?

Hey is it too late to apply fro Hogan Lovells Summer? The deadline is close now, also do they not recruit much from direct TC, I'm I better off applying for that instead? Please share views?
What do you have to lose? Just apply - decent VS conversion rate. You may regret not applying there. They haven't run ACs yet, AFAIK. Plus summer's a long way off. Still, WG invites there are rolling. Best of luck with your application.

I haven’t applied for a visa in sometime, so it maybe that categories have changed (this can often happen). So I can’t be 100% sure on this

Typically the β€œlegal professionals not elsewhere classified” has been the code used (2419) as they use the old term of β€œSolicitor’s clerk” (old name for trainees) as the job title reference.

The lower rate for this category is Β£30,960 but candidates have to be under 26 and a recent graduate or hold a PhD. Because some candidates won’t meet this criteria, often firms will apply the upper rate of Β£38,700 consistently though.
    Thanks Jessica!

guys i can't do this anymore tbh - i don't know if i'll ever be good enough to get a TC and don't get me wrong its so nice to see everyone's success here but it can get a bit overwhelming - might take a short break just to clear my head
Hey, this is a really valid feeling. I expressed the same sentiment to my friend (an associate at an MC firm) and she said even she had felt the same during the app stage.

Taking a break will definitely help clear your head but don’t give up. You can definitely do this!!!

Hi, I know it’s overwhelming but I’m sure you will get there and you are definitely good enough to get a tc :). People spend more than five cycles on getting a tc, the average age of people doing a tc is apparently 26 and the firm I worked in, so many 1-3 years pqe associates told me it took them 4-5 years after grad to secure a tc and they just tried to build their experience those years by paralegalling. I’m sure you’ll reach there. Take a break and relax for a while, I’m sure you’ll progress eventually :)

This feeling is very valid and trust me I’m in the same boat. Some days I’m unable to even sleep properly due to stress :(. I am also an international student and want to practice in UK so this is added stress too. On days I feel like this, I distract myself and take a break, talk to friends. Go for an outing, motivate yourself :)

Remember, we only need one offer and there are more than 150 firms.

    Best of luck!
