Anyone know why Kennedy's, Irwin Mitchell and McDermott and Emery only have TC's for 2025/26 and not for 2027 yet?

This may be a silly question but for some applications I can see a word limit of over 2,000 words - do firms really expect us to write this much? How many words do people usually average?

Some have 2000 characters not words.

Or did you mean 2000 words over a number of questions? I actually have to edit answers down to stay within the limits

Reality a lot of these questions will over lap with other firms and you’d have an answer for them already. Extra curriculars, hobbies, something you’re interested in, teamwork, leadership etc. Therefore you’re not really writing 2000 every time. I’d suggest you make a word doc with answers to these questions and edit them as you see fit to each firm. Also explain a commercial story is one that firms use. These answer can be repeated and adjusted to each firms practice areas to show a link. Work smarter not harder.

Hi! No, they don’t but the Graduate Recruitment team is usually in the room when you read the case study documents so you can’t really look at your phone
I’m not sure if it’s forbidden because they don’t mention it but they always say that everything you need to know is in the documents + you don’t really have time because you usually have 15/20 mins to read A LOT of docs. There is no need for you to use your phone but you’ll have it with you at all times!

They don’t take them away but they don’t expect you to use them at the same time.

In 'why do you want to be a solicitor' questions is it ok to have the more generic reason of the intersection between business and law as long as you are backing it up with evidence and examples?

I think as long as you connect it with examples of why that resonate with you it’s okay. Realistically, a lot of answers to this question are going to have similar points, so it’s up to you to personalise them.
