I interviewed with them last year, and from my impression they only made offers to their internal paralegals

That’s great! So they wouldnt rescind your offer if you say you need more time to do other vac schemes?

Highly unlikely - the most negative outcome is most likely to be that they don’t offer you an extension of the offer period and therefore you have to make a decision within the time limit.

Hi guys, I have accepted an offer of internship through 10,000 Interns programme but my spring application for a VS has been switched to summer due to lack of spaces and I was offered an AC - if I were to get on the vac scheme would there be any consequences for backing out of the summer internship?

No - there wouldn’t really be any consequences beyond not being able to be considered for a TC conversion process.

I never stated it was their *policy*, but you can just search on linkedin for their current trainees to infer that they prefer their own paralegals to other candidates

They will do them all in one go. I put Spring as preference and have not heard back.

When I interviewed with Slaughter and May it took them around a month to get back to me and I ended up receiving a VS offer. With Milbank, I only heard back two weeks afterwards and also got an offer. While some firms will respond very quickly, others spread out ACs over a longer period of time and/or simply have more drawn out decision-making processes. As such, there is not much you can infer from the wait time. I know how difficult it is, but try to get your mind off what the outcome will be. I found it useful to channel the post-AC anxiety into applications-related efforts; as that kind of work made me feel like at least I was doing all I could to prepare for the worst case scenario.

if you have an upcoming ac at a mc firm, and you went to their insight evening (and got info about their culture) but not their nation-wide open day/fair where you can speak directly with trainees/associates/partners in a sector (and therefore missed those insights), do you still have a chance of getting the VS? just realised this when looking through my emails with the firm and it's adding to the pressure ahaha but someone please be brutally hones with me! 🧿
