In my experience the smaller ones, which might hire 2-3 trainees will have this expectation yes, but it’s not a hard and fast rule. I’d say elite New York firms, which hire 9-15 trainees, or even more like Latham, which hires about 32, would not have work experience as a strict requirement. I’ll caveat this by saying this is my personal impression given the firms I’ve interacted withAre US firms expecting students to have more legal work experiences? ( I feel like they may have a higher standard due to their small intake
Hi there - unfortunately there is a bit of a delay in me responding to PMs at the moment due to the volume received. I will try and come back to yours as soon as possible.@Jessica Booker So sorry for pinging you here but could you please check your PMs? I couldn't bring it up here since it mentions personal info!
Doesn't require legal experience (tho having some never hurts)Also - quick q on Clifford Chance. They don't offer the traditional VS so would a final year law student need to apply via their TC route (which I assume requires some form of legal experience)?
I don't think it needs to be the 4 most recent, I just choose 4 which highlight your relevant skills the best!I’m not sure if I’m being stupid, but on the Sidley winter VC application form there’s only space for 4 work experience examples to be entered - unless there’s somewhere to attach a CV I guess I just put my four most recent/legal experience??
Their brochure says interviews will be in late September/October so it might be a while till we hearAnything from Sidley today?
Im also wondering!Does anyone know what the video questions for the A&O assessment are? I got the assessment but I want to prepare for the video questions.
I suppose, I still thought it being on a rolling basis would mean early applicants would hear back earlier, and it would be staggered from there onTheir brochure says interviews will be in late September/October so it might be a while till we hear
Hi @s2203 , thanks for replying! Yes, I know Travers Smith does have these two questions, but I'm a bit scared to put these two into these sections as it will reduce the number of work experiences I have which may make me look a little inexperienced. As it stands, I have got a decent amount of stuff to put into those two questions without the tutoring and Editor position, so might just take the approach Jessica suggested. But, I'd love to know whether you think I'm being overly cautious about this hehe?Hey, on Travers Smith's application there are two questions, one which allows you to put any details of extra curricular(tutoring) and then another on any achievements/awards/levels of responsibility which you have gained (the very popular legal blog).
What was this talk? Was this an event ?if anyone attended the A&O Shearman talk today - would you be able to share the takeaways? thank you

Thank you so much ! Does anyone know if A&O is offering a Middle East TC this year?
you can sign up for the next one! i thought i hadn't received an invite for the one on the 12th but the invite was in my spam.
Why not just submit the answers without reading the questions? It’ll definitely make you stand out!so who is going to take the bullet and do the A&O assessment questions first.
