Hi! I applied for Slaughter and May's direct TC on October 15th and still haven't heard back. I've seen that people who applied after me have either received rejections or progressed to the next stage. Does anyone know if this is a good/bad sign? I'm just a bit confused as to how their process works.

Hey there,

I completely get the anxiety, but I would not worry too much about this. Firms have different timelines for getting back and some people may have submitted their applications earlier - there are a host of operational reasons which suggest why you have not heard back. At this stage, I recommend thinking less about timelines. Firms may also make offers after the deadline, depending on their policy. I know of people that heard back from firms towards the end of the cycle, but still got offers. I know of people that also got offers soon after the application period opened, for the same firm.

Hope this helps to soothe your nerves ;)

Do firms usually progress candidates this close to the new years? I assumed that there wouldn't be any VIs or next stage tests sent to be completed between 25th to 2nd

Hi @NCTC2025 ,

It is certainly possible to hear back within this timeframe, and I certainly heard back from one firm during this period last year. However, this was for a later interview in Jan. I would, however, also assume that the likelihood of hearing back from many firms during the holiday period will be lower than per usual.

does anyone who has done the Mayer Brown simulation/VI have any advice/insight? just trying to gauge how much research on the firm is required to answer the VI questions - whether there are any motivational questions in the mix or if they're strictly related to the simulation

Hi there,

I am unsure about MB's VI in particular, but I have linked Andrei's guide to VIs to give you more guidance - https://www.thecorporatelawacademy....de-for-competency-interview-preparation.9380/

Hi;
I just have a question regarding the Osborne Clarke application. I am writing the question where you have to choose between two options. They mention a team hire. As a non native English speaker I am confused about what this means. Does it mean a teame hires one person or that they hire an entire team?
Thank you

Hi there,

Could you provide more details on the full question please? Perhaps I'll be able to advise more from there ;)

Amazing. I sent off an application and in a rush I didnt put the % of my grades for each of my years at University. How likely do you think this will impact the success of being invited to the next round.

Hii, I am wondering if anyone is thinking about applying for Freshfield's London Asia TC? I didn't find much information about it so would really appreciate if someone could refer to some relevant resources:)
