@Jessica Booker If we applied to firms in the previous application cycle and got past the written application stage (i.e. to telephone interview, video interview, or even AC) and we plan on reapplying this year, how much does our written application need to change?
As much as it possibly can.

Applications should always be updated both in terms of your experience and also how your motivations have been refined, and also be critically reviewed to see how they can be improved.

The way I describe it to people is “if nothing has really changed since your last application, why do you expect the outcome to be any different this time around” - and if that is the recruiter’s perception, they maybe unwilling to interview you again if they expect the outcome of that interview/assessments to be any different than last time, especially if getting an interview is in itself competitive.

for a real estate or financial sector focused tc, What are the chances that i’d be able to qualify elsewhere if midway through my tc i realise real estate/finance is not for me?

Honestly, unlikely. They will be putting you through specialised seats and the plan would be to do that, and so you’d effectively have to change programme. It’s not impossible, but I think the whole purpose of these programmes is to find people who are confident that is where they will want to qualify into. If you are not fairly certain, then I wouldn’t necessarily apply to the opportunity.

Anything yet from Boodle Hatfield? We have been waiting ages!
I know some ppl have received PFOs, but all I had was probably around a month ago a lady from grad Rec phoned me asking for some of my grades that I have obtained since I initially applied (I was doing the LPC this year and I applied originally for the VS in Jan). She said they would be in touch but I’m kinda presuming PFO at this point 😅🥲

Hey, no I did not email email them. I suspect it was an automated email as myself and someone else received it on the same day. I dont think it would be detrimental to email them, but I suspect that the answer would be that they are still in the process.
Heyy any update from them? August is almost over so I’m feeling a bit stressed 🤣

Thanks Jessica. I was 100% when I applied and even up to the video interview but now I’m not so sure. I’ve failed around 10 ACs at other firms over a few years though and feel as though this is the only chance I’ll get.
