I did their AC yesterday - there isn't much you can prepare really. They do ask some general motivational questions in the interview but the majority of it is "what would you do if X". The proof reading exercise is what it says on the tin. And you can't really prepare anything for the group...
"I've been through foster care and this is arguably worse" wow.
I've regularly worked 70/80 hours a week before and felt like I had no life at all. I can't even imagine doing 95+.
It doesn't feel like it now but not securing a TC in your second year really isn't the end of the world. I failed miserably in my second year. It certainly isn't ideal having to do it all over again in your final year but as long as you prepare well (use summer to research + start thinking about...
Well every AC I've done thus far has been pretty different - so it really depends on what the exercises are and what they say they're looking for (if they say that). With group exercises and proof reading exercises, there isn't a whole lot you can prepare in advance. Just make sure you know the...
This was me last year. I made a couple of minor tweaks this year in how I approached answering questions and have been invited to the AC/final stage in 6 of my 7 submitted applications.
I'm happy to help you figure out where you're falling short, if you get in touch. I can look over an...
It really depends! I got an offer in writing from one firm over a week ago (was offered over the phone the week before) and have until the end of the month. Whereas another firm was in touch on a Friday afternoon and wanted an answer by Monday morning.
Well mine wasn't all rosy. Part of it is in a different sized font. And I've gone over one A4 page (had it all been one size, it would have fit). So I don't fancy my chances too much now.
Oh that's so fortunate Two of mine clash so I'll have to turn one down. And my third may clash too, if they don't put me on the earlier scheme. Bit rubbish but it is what it is...
Wow 3 offers from 3 AC's is a really awesome conversion rate - well done!
Are they scheduled for different weeks or are you going to have to make some tough choices?
There may be a way of checking whether it was disabled on the document?
I'm actually a little worried because I just checked mine back after finishing and there are zero spelling mistakes. And no *real* grammar mistakes, apart from a couple of sentences where the suggested wording is more...
I do get your point re being ambitious. But I've spoken to quite a few trainees who have had the mindset of saying yes to everything and ended up having some big breakdown because of it. So I would be careful in how you answered/explained it.
My own answer to the question would be to discuss...
Not to say that your approach isn't a good way of answering but it isn't how I personally would answer. While being ambitious is a good thing, stretching yourself too thin isn't. There's a skill in knowing how to balance your workload. If you just say yes to every task put your way then there's...
Mine have been mixed. My first two AC's were rejections via a phone call. It isn't too pleasant but at least you can ask for feedback without chasing somebody up or booking a time. Of the three offers I received this cycle, two were sent in an email and one was over the phone.
I think it really depends. If you live at home (e.g. with family) and don't pay (much) rent then it's easier to throw a few hundred pounds on a holiday. If you're earning minimum wage and paying rent (particularly city prices) then it becomes MUCH harder to justify. I went four years without...
