DWF? I don't think it would be a bad idea to be prepared for some general commercial awareness. I've had other "strength based interviews" where they've snuck in a couple of commercial awareness questions at the end. But it does sound from the email like the group exercise is the main part where...
Cases and deals are good to prepare but to be perfectly honest I've spent hours trying to engage with a case/deal for an AC and ended up not having discussed it because of how questions are asked. My own commercial awareness preparation for ACs is to identify a couple of the firm's core sectors...
I just received a VS offer for Mills & Reeve!
I actually cannot believe it - this time last year I was so dejected by the application process after failing to make it past the application stage of the vast majority of my applications. This year I'm sitting on three VS offers from my top three...
If it helps, I felt this way about an interview I did on an assessment centre and I ended up getting a VS invite "on the strength of" my interview. I also had a VI which I visibly cringed at myself, and got through to the next stage. Sometimes we aren't a good judge of how things went. 😅
It was! They did mention that as being the weakest part of my performance in the feedback. But I did well enough in the other commercial awareness bits to compensate for it.
Just received a VS offer for Addleshaw Goddard! In a little bit of shock to be honest because I didn't feel like the day went well. But I had a really strong interview and I think that pulled me over the line.
Just to point out that you don't need legal work experience to secure a vacation scheme. Soft skills developed in non-legal work experience is just as valuable for applications, if not even more so.
In my own interviews this cycle, I've only had one partner ask me once about a week of work...
No disrespect to the person who won - she deserved it. But they literally set it up so that it was a popularity contest, and half the competition was friends with her. And there were episodes when she should have been pulled up for things and wasn't. Basically they made it look like she did much...
AS2 is obviously good but you wouldn't start with it. And I personally don't think it tops 4-6. I'd put it just behind them. I'm a little harsh on it because I thought it was a bit *too* obviously rigged.
Season ones a bit meh. 2 and 3 are entertaining. I started with season 4 and I still think 4-6 are the best the show has given. The two UK ones are on par with those too though.
