I had this once. A firm was interviewing their Winter Vac Schemers at the same time as running two Assessment Days for direct TC applicants (strange timing).
Not a single person who applied for the direct TCs and attended the Assessment Days were offered a TC
Can't remember if I chucked this into the convo as well, but I'd recommend getting a Lexology account. You get morning emails on practice areas of interests (corporate, real estate, private client etc.) including articles put out by law firms on those topics.

I would go for it. I've got in touch with trainees who have been more than helpful because they too have gone for this horrendous process before. Some of them have even become my friends
What I would say is make sure you have specific questions to ask and stuff you genuinely want to know...
Slow your breathing;
Avoid overthinking;
Mindset - be confident. You got to this stage for a reason, now finish off your hard work!
If you're confident and maintain a calm mindset, you can tackle any challenges or random questions thrown your way.
I predict you may be coming under a severe two week flu in the future? 👀
But seriously, employers like this are terrible. I think its sad I have to use paid holiday leave for all these interviews, assessments VS' etc but hey ho!
