This depends a lot:
Some firms will set assessments during/ at the end of a VS and only assess through those assessments
Some firms will do assessments and judge based on these and feedback from supervisors
Some firms set no assessments at all and purely base it off feedback on performance...

If you are getting to ACs then fundamentally you have a application that means firms want to hire you.

Ah I think you query is more specific than I thought- however giving the MC preeminence in the finance space in the UK I would imagine they still do lots of bespoke work, with the US firms doing more of the PE focused work
