This might be a silly question, but do firms judge appearances during ACs, specifically piercings? I'm not covered or anything, but I have a decent amount on my ears, and have always covered them with my hair during online interviews. For an in-person AC, should I consider taking them out just to be safe?

It depends how obvious they are and I would also use your discretion on this.

If you can replace more obvious studs/fittings with more subtle ones, and if you can remove any without any issue to leave them out for a few hours, I would potentially do this.
