That’s what I would usually do but there’s no questions on the application form so I wasn’t sure!
Just to add to @Amma Usman's great response, I think to the extent that you can make connections to the firm in the work experience section (such as mentioning why particular skills demonstrated by your work experiences align well with the responsibilities and tasks in the firm's main practice areas), I think you would be desirable to do so. However, my advice is to only do so if you can draw plausible links - do not grasp at straws, as this will be very evident for recruiters. I don't think it will be a big issue if you do not get to mention many 'why the firm' points. Some firms simply prefer not to ask the 'why the firm' question at this stage and to assess your application on other criteria. If they cared a lot about your why the firm reasoning at this point in the application process, they would have asked the question directly.

Can you apply to both the linklaters direct TC and vacation scheme? I would really prefer not to do a vac scheme as I work full-time but my success rate with direct TCs is awful compared to for vac schemes…
I asked the exact same question the other days, this is their reply:

"We advise to apply only for one vacancy per recruitment cycle as you can complete online assessments only once per academic year so your scores from first application will be considered for the second one as well."

@Amma Usman @Andrei Radu @Ram Sabaratnam Hi! This is one of the application questions from the Weil VS Application. Just wanted to know how would you recommend structuring this answer and also researching about their clients? Thank you so much!

Think of a current commercial issue that has recently attracted your attention. Why does it interest you, why do you consider it to be significant and how do you think this will impact Weil's clients? (200)

Hiya @a1024 :)

I’d recommend focusing on a recent development that ties closely to Weil’s main practice areas, like private equity or restructuring. Start by introducing the issue in the first paragraph. That is, explain what it is and why it interests you. Keep this paragraph concise, around 100 words.

In the second paragraph, you can then shift to discussing the commercial/legal implications of the issue for Weil’s clients. Think about the challenges or opportunities it might create for broad client groups, like private equity sponsors or portfolio management companies. Consider what specific advice or strategies those clients might need. In this paragraph, I'd encourage you to bring the focus back to Weil by connecting their expertise to the issue. Think about how the firm’s unique strengths position them to help clients navigate the challenges/opportunities you've identified.

By structuring your answer this way, I think you’ll create a clear, logical flow while demonstrating both your commercial awareness and your understanding of Weil’s capabilities. Good luck with your application!

I’m so annoyed with myself. The internet kept coming in and out so I’ve missed some of an app that I submitted. I also made a mistake on two of the dates of employment. It’s only an insight evening but I was hoping to use that to get info for the vac scheme. Just have to email HR acknowledging the mistakes and provide the missing information I guess and hope they don’t remember my open day application when looking at my vac scheme application. Oh well 😔

Just received a pfo from eversheds, but I submitted my application on Saturday and I thought it was non-rolling. No idea how they could review my 2000 word application in that time? I used grammarly as a spellchecker - does any know if this counts as AI?

Yh was thinking that also maybe as Trump wants to help businesses grow.
My advice is, not that it is necessarily right, not to give an opinion on Trump/Labour or any political stuff. Base everything you say in fact, if everything you say is substantiated it shows your ability to analyse information and, more importantly, lets you seem bit more impartial about stuff.

I got my pfo earlier and I didn't apply until Sunday night so I don't know how they got through it so quickly, I'm not sure what they class AI as or how they check for it
