Ran out of time on a written exercise so the last sentence of the second question doesn’t make sense as I was mid editing feel like I’ve screwed everything up at this hurdle and am so annoyed at myself

Most people will not finish such exercises. It is not a complete disaster.

I recently had an AC - where I mentioned examples from an internship that was not in my application form as the internship was confirmed post me submitting my application. I mentioned this to the Grad Rec team and they made note of this during the interview. I was wondering if it was worth formally e-mailing Grad Rec about the internship and details as it was legal work experience and relates to the work of the firm.

There is no need to do this.

Apologies in advance for this slightly cringy post but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped me through this process - I have received a Direct Training Contract offer from Slaughter and May! Unexpectedly, I received a call from one of the Partners at 8:45pm last night! After rejections, awful WG tests, and being ghosted post-app, I couldn’t be happier with this offer.

As a WOC and someone with no formal legal experience, this is a huge relief. I found the whole process was really enjoyable and the Partners were lovely — while every firm has a reputation, I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and welcoming they were, so don’t let hearsay dictate where you apply until you’ve experienced the firm yourself!

So I applied to this national firm a while ago for a work placement and I just got a connection request from their early careers officer who I added on LinkedIn. Is this a coincidence or a good sign?

I don’t think it’s necessarily an indication of an outcome. Last year I did a SVS with a firm and received a connection request from the grad recruitment manager less than an hour before receiving the TC rejection.
