@Jessica Booker What stage in the app process is it best to try and switch to a direct TC application? I have a couple of applications which may clash with another scheme that I have been offered. Is it best to get as far as possible and potentially pass AC or ask earlier and risk they say no/withdraw your application. I feel like firms would be more willing if you are further in the process because they would have got to know you more?

Also, how receptive are firms generally to these types of requests (I know it will vary firm to firm). Are they more or less likely to offer the option if you have other VS offers from other firms?

If you are definitely sure you wouldn’t accept the VS offer over one you already have, I would do this as early as possible. The firm will have policy on how to transfer you across and that won’t change based on where you are in the process, and the firm is likely to appreciate you not wasting their time with a recruitment process you are not going to be able to go forward for.

It really depends on the firm - some are really open, while others will just tell you to reapply for a direct TC.

Two more "ghosting" specialists... Still waiting for WC to respond to my first year app from December 2021 😂😂

@lawstudent1 - I understand it can be frustrating waiting, but the deadline was only 2 weeks ago and we are still reviewing applications.

To be clear - we always contact applicants with an outcome (rather than ghost them as you say ;)).

Good luck.

Is anyone still not able to access the shoosmiths portal? I submitted a couple of weeks ago but wanted to look at my application again as I had a similar question on another app. Everytime I try to log in it just says username/password incorrect but it shouldn’t be! And then when I go to reset password it says it has sent an email but it hasn’t.

    Hi Charlie

I have my Dechert VI next week; what were the questions and what can I do to prepare well for the written exercise?
The VI questions were just general motivations and understanding of Dechert; for the written exercise you can’t really prepare but It was only one task to do which was drafting an email to a client, my tip that I got would be to use informal language and italics/headings to make it more easier to read rather than answering like its a legal problem question.
