I try to keep telling myself that too and try to stay positive and just move on post rejections because I do truly believe that hard work pays off. It just feels really bleak when you’re doing everything in your hands but not seeing any results. I know I’m not alone and I just need to stick with it but it’s just so hard sometimes. Thank you for your kind words. I wish you the best of luck tooWe could be twins honestly. I’ll tell you what I’ve been telling myself- all we can do is try our absolute best and through that something will happen. No one can be this proactive/put so much effort into something and nothing come of it. It may not be this year or exactly what we envisioned but that’s okay too! Good luck for the rest of them!
Not in every case.. I applied on deadline day to milbank and to W&c.. they were my only two ACs this cycle.. every other app I made early applications and got rejected at app stage loolsame didn't even get invited to VI
shoudn't have applied on the deadline
Waiting for mine now 😣 Good luck with your other applications and stay positive!!White & Case Spring VS PFO!
I would be thinking about the firm's sectors and practice areas, and then look at where there would be a market or need for one (whether that be an international location or nationally). Or you could perhaps go down the route of discussing a tech hub outside of the city, where overheads are likely to be much cheaper. That would allow the firm to potentially lower the cost of services to clients and/or increase profitability.Does anyone have any opinions on answering a question - "where should we be looking to open a new office?" Thanks!
Congrats! Is this for summer vs ?
Think about the firm’s current office locations; think about their client base and any sectors they tend to have specialisms in; think about where markets may be developing at a faster pace; think about where new opportunities could be opening up;Does anyone have any opinions on answering a question - "if you could choose any country in the world for us to open a new office, where would it be?" Thanks!
I got an email last night saying I've progressed to the next stage and need to upload my CV to be considered for the final interview stage. Does anyone know if they recruit for their TC through this scheme?Has anyone not heard back from the AS DWF scheme either way?
Thank you. I was a mature student and didn’t start uni until I was 23. I moved overseas as a child and once I returned to the U.K. after my A’levels, I had to wait three years to attend university because I wasnt eligible for student finance despite being a British citizen. I also wasn’t in a position to self fund so I worked in a supermarket during this time in limbo and throughout university and the LPC. Although I’m a mature applicant my life skills are only limited to those experiences and I just feel like I don’t even have this to my benefit either.I know how you feel - I'm an older applicant and I haven't had a particularly successful cycle. I think the one thing I try to keep in mind is that I've had time to hone a number of skills since uni that current students have not had the time to develop just yet. In some ways, we're lucky - we can be a little more creative and pursue non-traditional paths into the profession. Do you have any other non-legal experience that you can leverage? For example, I had experience in marketing so I am helping out in a firm's marketing department. It's not an obvious route to a TC (and I'm not even sure that there will be an opportunity for me at the end of it!) but I am gaining valuable insight into the profession and meeting new people (albeit virtually!). Every experience counts & all you need is one 'yes'! I know you'll get there in the end
Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. That certainly qualifies as life experience. Just in this short paragraph alone you've shown resilience, motivation and resourcefulness. And the soft skills you gained in a supermarket will still be useful in applications and interviews.Thank you. I was a mature student and didn’t start uni until I was 23. Sorry to be negative Nancy and I promise I’m not usually like this, but thank you so much for your insight. I honestly really appreciate it
Did you apply for a spring vacation scheme and a summer vacation scheme? If so, that's why you will have received two emails.Special thanks to Shearman for sending a second email 6 days after the first to remind me of my PFO.

Thanks Paul - not a criticism at all, I love Shearman! No I've only applied to summer VS.Did you apply for a spring vacation scheme and a summer vacation scheme? If so, that's why you will have received two emails.
I know it's not ideal receiving two rejections, but we do need to reply to every application.
I hope that explains.
If I remember GCSE Maths correctly, 2 negatives equal a positive so it can only be a good thing going forward hahaThanks Paul - not a criticism at all, I love Shearman! No I've only applied to summer VS.
It's just that I was surprised to get another email today, and for one second I thought maybe Shearman is emailing to apologise for sending a rejection by mistake (ikr hahaha), only to find the content to be identical to the first rejection.
Could also be a system error etc. Thanks Paul - not a criticism at all, I love Shearman! No I've only applied to summer VS.
