I am final year law and I've gotten an AC invite, so I would say so. I think maybe it's different if you are an international student though - is that what you're referring to?
I submitted my standard one-page CV with my application. I try to find a nice balance between showing experience, strengths and some of my personality and motivations. It has the following:
Education - college modules and grades, a summary of my university achievements (highest grades, year...
Just received an AC invite for DLA Piper! Didn't make it past the application last year, so I'm really happy with this. Hoping it's a sign that I've fixed where I went wrong last year
@Jessica Booker So I have just realised that an application I submitted last week asked for 'up to three' work experiences and I have done my standard five years, which has six work experiences. I'm kicking myself for making such a stupid mistake because I spent SO much time doing this...
I just tend to pick a generic one, like I heard on Chambers Student or Reputation. I'm not sure that it matters much to be honest. They probably ask it so that they can gage which are their most effective forms of marketing to students.
I just had an email from Mills and Reeve to do the Watson Glaser. They are doing it a bit differently this year, only applicants which meet the benchmark will have their applications reviewed. Bit annoying for anybody who doesn't meet the benchmark really! I spent a solid week working on my...
Not yet but I only applied last week. The Grad Rec manager said in an event I attended that they have been screening applications already. But I'm not sure if that means that they are contacting as they go or will be sending out invites/PFOs in batches.
It's including spaces! They were two separate questions last year - I guess maybe they found that there was an overlap on applications, so decided to merge them?
Good luck with your application!
I did last year. I ended up waffling to fill it up - suffice to say that I got a rejection. This year something clicked and I felt like I had way more to talk about. But I would definitely suggest being concise. 2000 characters worth of strong content is better than 4000 of waffle!
It's a completely different application this year than for the last cycle (different questions, different format, different word counts) so I'm not sure it would be that helpful to you!
I'm currently working on my application. I was intending to answer more generally and then link back to...
Thanks for responding! I am really happy with my applications I have submitted. I've had them checked over by a couple of connections and they say they're great - I can't really afford to pay for a premium service (no offence TCLA). Whether I get through to the next stage in the application...
Just submitted my third application for this cycle - I'm really struggling to find the time between my studies! I think I am going to have to reduce the number of applications I had intended to submit...
Do you think I would be okay to refer to Mills & Reeve as M&R in the "why this firm" section? The question itself says Mills & Reeve but I have noticed that they often abbreviate it elsewhere.
Strength based questions determine what your strengths and motivations are, and how you would respond in X circumstances (e.g. what would you do if given a task which you don't know how to complete/haven't got time to do). They are basically looking to see what kind of trainee you would be. You...
I'm planning on doing the application over the next couple of weeks. I was intending to link some of the more general points to diversity initiatives/approaches that AG already runs/has implemented recently.
