I don't think it went that well actually but you never really know! I certainly feel like I've given a better account of myself on other schemes. It's hard to judge though because the AG scheme was just three days and it was VERY condensed.
Good luck with your application though :) which...
They did have vacation schemes this week, so that may be why they haven't gotten back yet. I know that they've offered TCs from earlier schemes for some offices already. I had mine last week and was told I would find out probably next week.
Seeing announcements on LinkedIn for TC offers from the schemes I've completed - I've managed to keep a lid on it until now but this is so nerve wrecking!
If you get other offers which you need to respond to, just let HD grad rec know and I'm sure they'll try to accommodate.
My dates are all over the place - I did a scheme last week which have said I'll hear by the end of this week, and another scheme I did weeks ago but won't find out til mid...
Pinsent Masons have just begun a two week scheme, after having run another a few weeks ago. So I imagine their grad rec will be busy with that for the moment. Good luck though 🤞
I would reach out to their graduate recruitment and ask. Some firms are very strict with their requirements, whereas others seem to be much more flexible.
That's strange!
Honestly, I think Shoosmiths is a weird one. I applied last year and didn't get past the application stage, despite the application being stronger than a couple of my successful applications from this year.
Based on conversations I had with grad rec and trainees this/last year, they predominately (but not exclusively) hire from their vac schemes.
Which is also true of Mills & Reeve, if you want to add that onto the list. Also, Hill Dickinson doesn't seem to have a preference one way or the other...
I applied direct last year and didn't hear back. It did seem as though they filled most of the TC's (if not all) for the office I applied to through their vac scheme. Even then, I would still say that it's worth applying. You've got nothing to lose, right?
The comments section on Legal Cheek is a no-go, period. I'm honestly not sure why they actually bother having it, it really doesn't reflect well on the website.
In addition to what @LawGrad2019 said above, bare in mind that the trainees, associates and partners you will be meeting with will be in a similar position to you, in terms of being out of practice for the social and practical aspects of working in the office. So I really wouldn't worry about it!
I can relate. I'm on the second week of a vac scheme and spent much of my first week over-analysing things like this. To me it sounds like you've shown yourself to be proactive and keen - that's always a good thing. I hope you enjoy the rest of your scheme. :)
I've been in a similar situation these past few weeks - I would imagine that most have - I begin a scheme on Monday and haven't done a huge amount of preparation. But I honestly wouldn't stress too much about it. You secured the placement, so you must have shown a decent understanding of the...
