Hi @Jessica Booker - is it possible to apply to direct training contracts despite not having completed a vac scheme, what are my chances? Thinking it’s a slim one but would like your opinion!
People do this each cycle so I don’t see it being a problem. It’s impossible to say what your chances are though as chances rely on so many individual circumstances.

    Just got this rejection from Simmons, unsure if it is generic or not?
    Can't understand why I am only able to apply next year unless it is an outright rejection?

    "Unfortunately due to the high volume of applications, we are now at capacity for our Winter Vacation Scheme and are unable to progress your application to the next stage of our assessment process. Regrettably, we cannot transfer your application to another scheme.

    I understand that this may be disappointing, however, I would like to thank you for your interest in the firm and would encourage you to apply to Simmons & Simmons again when applications open in October 2022."

    @Jessica Booker
    any insight would be super helpful, thank you!

    Has anyone else who applied for EY been moved on to the shortlisting stage? My app is on stage 4 but it says this is just while they’re shortlisting candidates and they’ll update soon. But with the experience day happening next week it’s going to be a really fast turnaround.

    Hi @Jessica Booker,

    I'm currently applying to a firm with the question:

    'Please give details of any interests and extra-curricular activities, including any positions of responsibility or achievements.'

    This is second to a covering letter which needs to be written. Am I right in thinking that we generally shouldn't repeat anything on a covering letter which we have already described in our application? I'm struggling with how to start this question. I'd quite like to add my personal experience growing up as my biggest achievement is helping my brother push himself into Law school. However, I feel this more suits 'what is your greatest nonacademic achievement' which unfortunately isn't a question for this firm.

    Thanks!
