They review your application first and the WG is the next stage!Does anybody know whether CMS sends the Watson Glaser automatically or whether they review the application first? Thanks
Don't worry about it. I didn't hear back with an email until two days ago, and I applied well over a month and a half ago!Who else still hasn't heard if they've passed the SJT for A&O?
Thank you! this is very helpful. appreciate itJust to echo Jess here, the question just wants to know generally what would be important to any client. So it’s more an exercise of just putting yourself in any clients shoes rather than a specific client. Some things that (I think) would be important to clients:
- Cost - What AFAs (alternative fee arrangements) can the firm offer? Does the firm have good project management systems in place to make matters run more efficiently? Is the firm using any legal tech?
- Sector/Industry expertise - How much does Gowling know about the clients business and their specific needs? You don’t need to know the client for this - focus on the expertise the firm already offers across the board
- USPs - What can Gowling offer that a similar competitor law firm can’t? Is there something about their business model/international reach/rankings/past deal experience that pushes them ahead of the competition?
Things to consider:In SJT's where the conflict is between being a leader and a team player, how do you decide which one is best approach if a law firm is looking for both?
The assessment criteria puts both collaboration and leadership in its materials, hence the confusion.Things to consider:
Does the firm state it values leadership or collaboration in its marketing material?
In the scenario, are you really going to be a designated leader (eg a first seat trainee working with qualified lawyers vs second year trainee working with paralegals)?
Ah ok. That technically isn’t an SJT assessment really. The assessment criteria puts both collaboration and leadership in its materials, hence the confusion.
The assessment was also very basic scenarios on a sliding scale. Example: I am a team player or I am a leader
just asked grad recruitment on the Vantage Q&A - 23:59 on 1 October, but they would recommend submitting by 5/6pm incase of tech issues etc.Does anyone what time the deadline is for HSF winter on 1 October? I.e is it midnight on the 1st, or midnight on the 30th?
Can I just where you heard about this change? thanksMacfarlanes have changed their position and their applications are no longer rolling!

There isn’t a right or wrong answer with these type of personality questionnaires, they weigh it up across all your answers and get a profile, it is not like this is a pass/fail assessment, which an SJT is.
Just answer honestly and consistently across the questions posed (as there is likely to be similar questions). If you think you are both, just go with the “middle” option.
It’s on their website “We do not recruit on a rolling basis and review all applications after the deadline has closed.”Can I just where you heard about this change? thanks
All their vacation schemes are non-rolling this yearhi, does anyone know whether latham recruits their winter VS on a rolling basis? thank you!
Nope, you have to pass the SJT before your app is consideredFinally heard back from A&O and I passed the test woooo! It says my application will now move onto the next stage and be reviewed? Does everybody get this message?
