In an interview, when answering a question on a 'firm's deal of interest', do you think it's fine to answer about a deal worked on by European teams (not London), even though i'm applying for the London office? The London team have strength in the area of this deal though, and it's one of genuine interest that I could talk about.. Any thoughts welcome!
Maybe consider bringing in other examples, including one of the London team's deals, in the same area to elaborate on/support why this particular deal stood out to you and interested you. It could help do away with some of the doubt that may accompany leaving out the London office from your answer!

When writing a cover letter which is addressed to the graduate recruitment team, do you use yours sincerely or yours faithfully to sign off? I get that YF is for when you don't know their name, but not sure which is best in this instance? TIA!!
Yours sincerely is always a safe option in my experience.
    Yours sincerely = name.
    Yours faithfully = no name.

For NRF spring scheme application, it has space for two references but only one of them has a * next to it, does that mean that only one (the academic one) is necessary and the other is optional?

I think that is fine, especially if there are some ties to London (eg it might lead to work in London with the client/as you have said the team in London has strengths in this area).

As you don’t know the person’s actual name (eg the person is unknown) it should be yours faithfully.

I submitted my application to Reed Smith on Wednesday and understand there should be an automated SST. I have not received the link or be told where to take the test. Is this normal or if I should speak to GR about it?

It’s not automatic, GR has to trigger it for you to get the link (although it is automatic in the sense that they don’t review your application before you do the test).

If a firm asks, within the early screening questions (“do you know anyone at this firm?” “Which year can you begin a TC”), why I am choosing to apply for a particular location, do I have to write about that office’s specific work or my own circumstances? They offer 150 words but honestly it’s not that deep: I live in London, my family lives in London, I want to train here.

Does anybody know what results get a phone interview with Mayer Brown?
Hi, I got social adaptability, attention to detail and ownership + 1 average and 4 above averages in last year's cycle. That got me through to TI.

I got 5 above averages but attention to detail + collaboration + resilience this time around.

The application doesn't hinge on your results though - it depends on everything else in your app.

Yes, you’ll need to provide some context as to why you’d be committed to that location. For some people this will be more obvious/straight forward, but it should still be explained albeit briefly. The person reading your application doesn’t know your family lives there or that you have always lived there, so providing that context helps.

Ok that’s fair, thank you. But it’s ok to just give that background briefly? It’s not an application question that’s asking me to distinguish between the London and other offices?
