oh my i just looked at the sqe prep courses alone thinking itll be way cheaper than the sqe llm

ur telling me 5k-6k each and then you have to pay to a separate fee to just sit the exam thats like 1.5k each

so its roughly adding up to 12k and that doesnt include books youll buy or travel to get there

if i knew this i wouldve started working before i got my national insurance number 😭

    my options are looking slim

im not sure if its worth funding just the sqe prep courses alone - id have to get a job and save up quick but even the job market is horrendous for standard labour jobs

sqe masters llm is a no go, cant use the loan there for religious reasons

options for a firm to fund me are slim as well rejection loves me right now

my back up that is becoming impossible too is paralegal, earn some money whilst getting some good experience and keep applying for tcs, thats slim too again because rejection loves me- i have an interview with accutrainee but i think they kind of just place you anywhere- if anyone has any experience here it would be good to know 😐

ive realised with me is that i cant sit around and do nothing, the break has been nice but its overdone now, i need something to do
Go and travel! Get a working holiday visa and work abroad whilst applying to direct TC’s from September. You’ll gain a wealth of experience and can definitely hone on wanting to work at an international firm if that’s what you want?

I’m in the same boat as you, it’s looking slim my future is shrivelling up as I speak but travelling is helping me get through it. I’ve not looked at my emails waiting for firms to get back to me as much. I have more motivation to write applications. Change your environment.

I believe you’ll get there for sure you’re sooo determined! x

    updated statz

    applications made:
    15
    rejections: 12
rejected post VI or test :
4 (Taylor Wessing, Trowers, Bristows, Browne Jacobson)
    waiting to hear back from:
    Brandsmiths VS
    Freeths (completed assessment)
    Wiggin TC
    Keep pushing!!!

There are still quite a few direct Tc applications open and most don’t close till end of next month.

You can reapply for SH I’m pretty sure? I emailed them and they said I could (I didn’t compete the assessments did Vs) but I think anyone can repapply. practice those tests again in the meantime. If your application was great no need to change it. Just apply and hope for the best. Not everyone converts and to think they did a video interview to VS offer is wild (amazing but crazy) there will be people who got that VS that are not a fit for the firm but passed those tests with flying by colours.

Farrer is hard because they have 3 vac scheme’s two of them haven’t even commenced yet. Plus their vac scheme students also had to do a Tc application so they reinterview them alongside direct applications it’s a lot in a short space. I don’t think they would’ve taken lots for direct tc, so that’s really a numbers thing rather then a bad application.

this cycle is horrific for sure no mercy either 😭 but the constant rejections will make that offer sweeter? I think? I pray I hope 😭

Reapply in the next cycle defo i dont think it would be for this

farrer was a beautiful firm on paper, i cant believe they make you do a tc app after doing a vs

i feel like direct tc's dont get that much grace, not saying that vs does either but most firms recruit a large intake from vs and i have not that much exp in the legal world

the constant rejections has numbed me 😭, im not that fussed anymore as i used to be but its still a bit like oh-
