Can anyone recommend any platforms to stay commercially aware of specific sectors? Other than the FT, I struggle to find a platform specifically geared towards giving updates/comments on current trends about a certain industry/industries. I am mainly interested in energy and shipping. Thanks :)

Check out the thought-leadership/know-how on the websites of law firms that specialise in those areas.

Have you tried listening to The Motley Fool's Industry Focus podcast? The episodes are extremely long and because it is focused on investment they discuss commercial trends in the context of the stock performance of specific companies but they provided some pretty detailed info on the energy industry.

I think shipping is one of the more niche industries, so finding sites other than the FT for shipping might be a bit difficult but something you can do is check which firms have strong shipping practices and reading some of their publications/guidances on the sector and work backwards from there to pick out important trends.

No I haven't heard of that one, I will definitely give it a listen. Is it on Spotify?
Agree re shipping, this is the one I struggle to find info on. Looking through the firm's website is a good idea though, thank you !! :)

Same here🤣 I’m sure most people found out about their VIs last year at the beginning of Feb so I’m assuming it may be this week or next if we do get through

Are people wearing suit jackets during their AC/interviews? I am curious what others have been doing or have observed. I do recognise that the standard is formal attire for an interview. However, anecdotally I've heard of some partners suggesting that candidates could lose their tie or were themselves dressed very informally.
I personally would always wear a jacket; though I did actually take it off in my Travers interview when I was in the room as it was roasting!

Generally speaking though, collar and tie, full suit (2 pieces is absolutely fine, I personally find 3 pieces overkill but it's a personal thing) and formal shoes is the way to go! :)

I don't understand this application process. I have a number of firms in the pipeline - I worked hard on these applications, have not heard back yet and see others on this forum invited to AC at those firms already. For Reed Smith, I got invited to answer the research questions on 4th Jan with a deadline of 8th Jan ( the same week I was preparing for an HSF AC and still had my my full-time job working 8.30am - 7.30pm.) I decided not to answer the questions as I did not have time. I received an email on 26th Jan from Reed Smith reminding me to answer the questions before the 29th Jan. I then decided to write something really last minute and quickly after work. Assumed the answers would be poor quality and the fact they were sent late would not be looked at favourably. I have just been invited to AC????

Yup, on Spotify! Just had a look through some of their episodes I had downloaded from last year and I remember that I found this one particularly helpful/interesting:

They probably have more recent/relevant ones now but thought I'll drop the link anyway!
