Hey Jay,Does anyone have experience with the interview at the Debevoise Open Day? How long is it/what kind of questions are involved? Feel free to message me if you have any suggestions! Also we are told that “you will be asked to review a document for 45 minutes ready to discuss at interview stage” - @Jacob Miller do you have any articles on how to prepare for something like this? I don’t know what kind of format it is likely to take! Thanks in advance
Hard to say for sure as I've no personal experience of the Debevoise AC. Could be along the lines of a case study, in which case I'd advise checking out my case study article, but could be a variety of tasks. Sorry I can't be of any more help!
Alright just got my PFO from White & Case. I got through two years ago with a terrible application (second year non law back then, had no clue about law firms at all), but rejected with what I think is a much better application this year.
Amazing, well done! I think I will quietly assume a post-app PFO from them now
I have not heard post-app either and I think there are a couple of others in the same situation so don’t worry
Is anyone else just waiting on absolutely loads of apps still? At this point, I wish I'd applied to some winter schemes lol.

Thank you!!! That is really really helpfulUsually rather than focusing on the other offices I tend to draw out specifically what makes me attracted to the one I've applied to. E.g. 'Since office X is the only one that offers practice area Y, I felt it was natural for me to apply there since this is a specialism I'm really interested in'. I tend to avoid drawing comparisons to other offices directly because like you said it's very easy that way to end up accidentally undermining the other office's value. Instead of saying 'I would prefer the smaller atmosphere of office X over office Z, which is bigger and I might get lost in the machine' it's better in my experience to turn it into something like 'I'm very teamwork oriented so the closer knit atmosphere of office X was really attractive to me' then if I felt like I had to involve the firm's other offices in the answer I might say something afterwards like 'this way I could still enjoy the benefits of having a great large/national firm network just as I would in office Z while working in a smaller immediate team'. That way you're still being positive about the other offices but highlighting that your personality or skillset is more suited for the one you've applied to. Hope that's helpful in some way!!
Does anyone else have a non-law job offer that they're seriously considering taking over a TC?? I got on the Fast Stream this year and I absolutely hated my 2nd year uni modules (tort/land especially) so if Dechert doesn't come thru with that £100,000 NQ salary I'm not sure what else could possibly motivate me to do the LPC 😂

Lol I can relate. Im currently interviewing for a grad scheme in the art market/with a fine art broker. Could not be more different to law
It shouldn’t solely be about the money. I know it’s why most people choose this career but you have to really love the work too. The hours are awful and your entire life becomes your job. If you hate the work itself then that will make it more unbearable. £100,000 + is a phenomenal salary, but after tax and living expenses of living as close to the office as possible and having little time to actually spend your money, is it worth it if you don’t actually like the work?
With all that being said, I don’t think you’d be doing much tort/land law at Dechert?
hate to sound like a broken record, but has anyone heard from Baker McKenzie post VI for summer vs. The email they sent me for the VI said we should hear by the end of Feb, with ACs schedule for march 2, 4, 10, 12, 16 (I think).
