I asked last year and they said that you could. They do tend to offer TC's to vac schemers though, so there may not be too many positions leftover afterwards. Last year I applied for the direct TC after being unsuccessful and I don't think that they even reviewed any of the applications for that...
Just received a VI invite for DWF (Liverpool + Manchester). Obviously really happy but also unsure how I'm going to find time to actually prepare for it - I have so much work due!
Well I can't speak for other universities but at mine (York) the feedback is usually very brief and generic. Basically just a couple of sentences which (kind of) indicates why you got the grade you did. I can't say that it's ever truly helped me to improve.
My university only really does 1-2 per year. In our first year we had two formative essays that we had to write in groups (of 12) - it was just horrible! From what I gather, most students don't even submit formatives anyway...
It isn't true that "real work" wouldn't permit or require exceptions. The Equality Act provides a duty for employers to make reasonable adjustments for persons with disabilities.
I did work somewhere once that had "Americana" and "Expresso" on their menu when I started. It was news to them when I pointed it out - apparently they'd been like that for a good year. 🤦
When I was a restaurant manager I once printed a whole days worth of Sunday lunch menus with "served with a red wine Jesus". It took about an hour before somebody actually pointed it out to us too. 😅
This isn't at all specific to Irwin Mitchell but my biggest piece of advice is to record yourself answering some 'generic' questions in advance. That way you can not only practice giving answers verbally but also become accustomed to seeing yourself speaking on screen, which I think most of us...
After spending weeks of impatiently longing to hear back from firms, I'm now hoping that they are delayed because I have so many other deadlines over the next couple of weeks. 😅 I'm just not sure how I would find the time to prepare for another VI or AC if I got an invite now. Anybody else in...
I doubt many of us on this forum have studied business. A quick guide (e.g. Chris Stoakes, Commercial Awareness) will outline the key terminology. But the best way to learn these terms is by using them - it's like a language. Get involved in conversations like these. 😁
Last year I underestimated just how competitive the application stage is. I have lots of work experience (being a mature student) and strong academics, which I thought would get me to interviews. My application answers just weren't very persuasive of what I can offer or why I was wanting to work...
Gosh, I've been invited to the assessment centre for Pinsent Masons! This is my third thus far this cycle - last year I barely made it past the application stage.
Any advice from those who have previously done their AC would be massively welcomed!
