I have at the start of the answer, stated how I researched the firm in a short sentence, but it doesn't flow well, as I then immediately go on to talk about the work the firm...

The going rate on many applications is 250-300 words, so personally I would try and make answers as succinct as possible really, as being concise and not verbose is often better!
