Hi :) many firms will have practice area-specific events, e.g. HSF did a few presentations in corporate and disputes, most of which require no application so I'd definitely recommend attending those. They usually have lawyers talking about their day-to-day tasks, specific cases they've worked on...

I think the Dechert Winter VS is only if you're willing to start at an earlier date (I think 2022), but not 100% sure!
Not necessarily only paid employment, but you do have to be selected due to the limited options you can input. For your second question, it's up to you but probably more beneficial if you select a few and go into detail.
It's not an optional question, so I think you have to provide an answer for your application to be considered completed. Legal Cheek and All About Law have some events going on this week, if you'd like to include some!
Not Jessica, but I was successful in passing both so I may be of help. The workshop statement is essentially a shorter TC personal statement. For eg instead of including three motivations for applying to the firm, I mentioned two and condensed them more. I also cut down my 'why law' paragraph...
