    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

yes, my portal is at 90% and on hold. My AC was on the 22.01. and I received the offer on the 23.01. for the spring VS and accepted it on the 27.01. So overall ‘on hold’ and ‘under review’ really doesn’t seem to mean much, so wouldn’t worry about it.

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

being on hold really doesn’t mean much! I’m still on hold and have already accepted a place on the VS, so I wouldn’t read too much into this

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I suppose it depends on the firm, but for most you will have to wait until next cycle as you’re limited to one application overall

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

preaching to the choir. I’ve always been ok about rejections, but this one had me absolutely fuming. Oh well, good to know and won’t be applying to them again!

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Yes, I agree, but saying it to someone where it’s so clear to not possible doesn’t reflect particularly well on them. Oh well, everything happens for a reason, so moving on

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

emailed first, heard nothing and then followed up with a phone call and was told I should have already received the rejection. I spent more time on this one than any other application and content wise the people that have proof read it for me have commented how impressive it is, so I pressed for...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

same, same. Definitely not applying there again, waste of time. After pressing them they told me I was rejected due to insufficient academics. Considering that’s AAA and high first for me, this is nothing short of laughable!

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

That’s exactly my point though. Doesn’t matter if VI, telephone interview or any part of the AC, there’s a difference between talking about expectations (prepare for standard competency based questions and know your CV) and specifics (why commercial law and what differentiates us from our...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Thanks so much for the kind words. That’s exactly what it was, they all went to uni together. I suppose the firm tells everyone during the AC that information is confidential and not to be disclosed, considering discretion and confidentiality is such a huge part of being a lawyer they maybe...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

What are everyone’s thoughts on giving advice on case study/what to expect during an AC vs giving away all the questions one has been asked and all the detail away for the case study? During my last AC, the other three people there started writing down their answers to the case study before they...

Yes, they did mention to me that they are finalising who they have on their spring vac scheme early March. Feel like I’ve read from a lot of people, so fingers crossed everyone hears back from them soon.

Have you already had your AC and offer? I don’t have mitigating circumstances, but international qualifications, so assuming they might want to see a transcript at some point

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Honestly, while the report is interesting, it doesn’t tell you much. My lowest scoring attribute is what I view as my greatest strength, so how out of everything this could end up being my lowest score I haven’t got a clue. If you really want it, maybe give them a call, but it doesn’t add...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I honestly completely understand where you’re coming from, so please just know you’re not alone, even though I know it doesn’t soften the blow. I did 72 applications over the last three years and have been rejected by everyone without even getting through to the WG test. Especially for this...
