Hi ppl,

I saw others using this to stay accountable and just post anything uni/law related and Im doing the same (nothing too crazy as digital footprint is real) , quite late though lol as I'm in my final year and the vs cycle is nearly closing with only a few left open.

Oh well patience, im going to force my self to find the will to complete applications and if all else fails find a backup plan coz sqe prices are crazy, law is actually such a gatekeeped career yet they want inclusivity .... side eye fr

So heres some background:
- i set myself up in first year not knowing much about law, didn't know there was schemes, went to one open-day and was put off MC firms
- second year had some better knowledge of schemes etc, had poor technique, did like one app fluked that, got onto one open day
- now we're onto third year

Applications
-i applied to 9 VS so far
- rejected from 5, normally after WG tests (hate her so much)
- waiting to hear back from: Travers, Shoosmiths (TC, VS rejected), Stephenson Harwood, Russell Cooke, Browne Jacobson (SJT to complete)

Interests
- my interests in law: ip, tech, litigation, contracts, immigration
(its so difficult to say what i actually like because im so open-minded, this is just based on modules i took and enjoyed at uni.... how do they expect me to have a dedicated interest when im being gatekeeped from the career 🫠

starting the farrer & co tc application, assuming competition will be high as theres only roughly 10 spots and they also take on from VS... hope my efforts will show through:oops:

the f & c app is coming along, think in March im going to force myself to stay disciplined i have no choice lol uni deadlines are going to be april

third year is actually not for the weak, i wish i spent second year on applications as this year is my official real first cycle of apps

if anyone is reading this, use your first year for open days/insights, second year for schemes and third year to try again don't be like me and try fit it all in one 😭

I can totally relate to this - this year, I was juggling my first ‘real’ application cycle with doing a master’s degree. Successfully balancing the two (congratulations on receiving great grades for the first semester!) is a major achievement in itself. It makes me really happy to hear that receiving good grades motivates you to keep going - I know firsthand how easy it is to burn out when you are writing application after application on top of university deadlines.

Completely agree with your point about staying disciplined as much as possible. Personally, I found time blocking super useful for staying disciplined and making sure that I don’t neglect my university responsibilities and my applications. Looking back to October-December (when I wrote the bulk of my applications), I wish I dedicated more time to self-care and rest and had more days where I consciously tried not to think about applications at all. I would even consider allocating time for rest/ gym/ sleep/ hobbies/ socialising in your schedule alongside your university and application-related tasks.

Keeping yourself accountable like you are doing with this thread and getting those applications out takes persistence. Keep going, you got this!

so completed the browne jacobson SJT and...... the feedback is questionable

i dont have high hopes for this one now 😭

i scored:
high on intellect
natural/medium on numerical
555

too many 5's if just one was a bit higher it woulda looked better sigh, i don't think the test reflected me well
but as its amberjack you still have the written things that they'll assess so who knows

if anything im well-rounded ig

my tactic to not get too down after tests is to pretend i didnt get it anyway 😭
ON TO THE NEXT
