Hey!
Many open days have workshops in which GR goes through how to make strong applications for them, so if your upcoming open day has that then those can be super useful. Some firms even take the time to give you personalised feedback on your open day application and so you would be able to...
No, I didn’t. My rejection letter simply said that after careful consideration the team couldn’t offer me a place and that they couldn’t offer individualised feedback. I did get this yesterday and not today so perhaps they have changed their rejection letters and are striving to give applicants...
I just received a rejection from the virtual insight day at Weil. I am honestly at lot more devastated (like, tears streaming down my face sad) about this decision than I was with Sidley's rejection because I truly had taken the time to meet the firm and thought that my application had been strong.
A similar thing happened to me. I passed the SJT one year and in another I didn't. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about this. When I emailed graduate recruitment I was told that I had to wait for the next recruitment cycle given that we are only allowed to submit one application.
Back in Legal Check’s October virtual law fair, a member of Latham’s graduate recruitment mentioned that applicants were allowed to use bullet points in that question of the application. They also suggested that when generally formatting answers (whether using bullet points or not), applicants...
In the same boat too... I submitted an application in which I was overly-cautious to address only the question being asked. Anyway, I will know to make links to the firm for next time!
I'm so glad to hear that and I hope you receive positive news next week! :)
Unfortunately, I have not yet heard back. I still have my fingers crossed though!
One of my biggest application regrets is that I didn't include links to Sidley in some of the questions on the application form where I...
I did some tests by pasting in texts of varying lengths and the application preview never cuts anything off. Given that the form does not allow for paragraph breaks, I am personally going to aim to submit a paragraph (~100 words) for legibility reasons.
Ahhhhhh!!!! Just received an email about making it to the next round. Honestly, I thought I had done so poorly!
[The Quarter Finals will take place between 9 - 19 November.]
I'm happy to share both weak and answers to all your questions.
I'm really happy with a news stories one I submitted for an application. And I have a fair share of weak copy-and-paste jobs for "why this firm?," as well as some more decent ones (alongside "why commercial law?"). I really like my...
Hi Jessica!
I'm aware that in British English, collective nouns can take either singular or plural verb forms. So, on many instances in this forum, I see examples, such as "Linklaters have a supportive culture."
This is a form that comes unnaturally to me given that my education was a mix of...
