I was curious about what firms have a zero tolerance for spelling/grammar/inconsistency mistakes? And which firms are known to be more lenient?
I am, of course, striving to make my application forms error-free but sometimes even after asking multiple people reading a form over, a mistake can...
This is what Latham says:
"If you apply for a vacation scheme and are unsuccessful we would recommend that you wait until the following recruitment year before re-applying for another position with us."
So, they recommend not applying again in the same cycle but don't tell you that you can't...
Hi!
I'm not sure what your word limit is but one way you could do it is to think about a team situation in which a process was being carried out incorrectly either for Integrity or Excellence reasons and why upholding high standards was crucial. Speak about how you spoke up, linking it to the...
Acceptance to the Freshfields graduate workshop!!!!! I'm so incredibly happy because none of my winter vacation scheme applications had resulted in interviews and I was starting to loose faith in my abilities as well as motivation to keep going. I would be happy to share any notes from the event...
Yes, I have! I did limit my non-legal volunteering to some of the more long-term volunteering I had done so as to not dilute the law volunteer work I had done.
Also rejected from Latham pre-VI. I had long given up hope given all the VI invites on here so I expected this outcome. I had received a VI invite in a prior cycle and thought that I was a much stronger candidate this year... so not having a chance to demonstrate that hurts the most.
I’ve definitely heard of outliers. I remember one firm mentioning that the offers they give out after their winter schemes are open until the summer because they want their candidates to be able to undertake schemes with other firms to be sure of their commitment.
A lot of firms have insight days and schemes for STEM students, including some of the MC firms. Make sure you research those and apply to the programmes that appeal to you. So with your background you are already better positioned than you think to get a foot in the door! :):)
I think the only “restriction” on TC applications at Links is that you need to have had prior legal work experiences to apply. This can be satisfied by other vacation schemes, internships, etc. However, virtual internship programmes like the ones on Forage don’t count. If you don’t have legal...
For HSF, you're required to complete the test within 7 days of receiving an invitation for it. I applied on a weekend day and I didn't get a test link until Monday. So if your aim is to maximise your time to prepare, submit late on Friday or over the weekend for an extra few days.
Has anyone requested a Watson Glaser report from HL? I'd like to see mine but I'm not sure if HL is as happy to provide this as Links is. I'm still waiting to hear back from their HL BaSE programme and the last thing I would like to do is make a negative impression.
Does the Watson Glaser consider time into account when evaluating performance and determining your percentiles? I've taken a lot of the free unofficial exams I could find and those do take timing into account. But I'm not sure if the official ones firms give do.
I'm so sorry to hear that! Bakers recruits on a rolling basis for their open days, so it is possible that could have played a role in your rejection if you applied closer to the deadline. Also, remember that this year open days seem to be more competitive and that getting rejected for an open...
Skadden open day acceptance! :) I applied on the day lots of people received acceptances and sent in a 250-ish-word essay despite paragraphs not being possible to make on the application.
