So they told me it would be end of June/ beginning of July for the summer scheme for Reed Smith this year if that's helpful (sorry I completely forgot they even said this until you asked!)
So when I did this question, I approached it as a strength based question- I stated whether I would feel confident enough or not and then justified why. I then gave an example which supported my point, which I used the STAR structure for. In terms of knowledge of the firm, I just looked up Reed...
Hiya, Reed Smith told me they haven't finalised the summer VS dates yet and that they'll let me know when they have so can deffo post them here/ pm you as soon as they do! But it may be a while!
I'm in the same position (minus the email), I think last time someone emailed they said they were swamped and they seem to have given out a batch of telephone interviews a few days ago so hopefully they'll get back to us soon!
Honestly try not to be too hard on yourself, this cycle has been so so competitive compared to before, more firms are receiving more than 50% extra applications so it may just be the most minute thing that becomes the deciding line, Mayer Brown has also definitely become more competitive over...
Also, I received an invite to complete Dechert's VI for their summer scheme yesterday, if that's helpful for anyone waiting on their summer VS- I applied about a month before the deadline?
honestly, I think that in partner interviews they really are trying to throw you off your game sometimes by asking you hard questions and random questions. I just had a partner interview this morning too and I came out think what on earth was that, it was my hardest yet too 😂 try and stay...
Heya, I am so sorry to hear this and I know it is easy to say but honestly I feel that applications are a numbers game and there's also an element of luck to it. I didn't secure a VS my first year at all and last year I missed out on what I thought would be my dream firm by one exercise in an AC...
This is very true too, never thought of that! I guess I assumed it would be less inflammatory as you accepted the offer for another firm before you knw you'd have a choice but you're right, I guess if they were your first choice you'd prioritise them!
I would personally suggest asking the second firm for a direct TC interview rather than going back to the original firm because that tells them they may not be your preference/ priority while asking the second simply means you have clashing dates which is common and can't be helped!
I don't think it's necessarily either because Reed Smith sent out similar emails before they started making interview offers- I think it's just that the firm wants to keep people updated on their reviewing process!
I just try and do a little a day- prepping general interview questions but I think it depends how intense the AC is. If there's lots of different assessments I try and spend a few hours on each just to get a hang of it!
Hiya, I would definitely suggest telling the firm- if the firm like you enough to make an offer they will definitely try and accommodate you if they can and the sooner you tell them the more likely they are to be able to! In terms of coming across uncaring, I would just stress how keen you are...
Do you prefer Firm Y? Because if you'd want to switch then it may be worth considering the AC but if you know you won't want to switch I would say either ask to be considered for a direct TC application instead or withdraw your app if that's not possible because if you don't want the place they...
