I outline what I'm going to say in my first sentence - then don't say any more.
So, for "why do you want to be a commercial solicitor?" I would say, "I want to be a commercial solicitor because of the money, the leisurely hours and the look of awe of people's faces when they think my life is...
This is how I've done it in the past without any commercial law experience, don't know if it's a good strategy and obviously my motivations are different to yours so the reasons I'm committed to it will be different but just for an idea.
1. I worked in a criminal law firm and didn't like it...
Thank you - I have so much more to prep before tomorrow because I've had a bit of a busy week what with BoJo's announcements and everything (and another job interview on Friday). I emailed a few hours ago but I will try calling in the morning - thank you so much.
@Jessica Booker I have an AC tomorrow - and haven't been sent anything to access it. I kind of assumed they'd send a link or something. A few hours ago, I was speaking to someone on here and they're attending the same AC and have been sent a link and things so they can join. I've checked all my...
Sorry, yes. My comment prediction only applies IF YOU DON'T RECEIVE AN EMAIL TODAY. The first person to post on here only just got their email and I got my update email hours after other people posted on here that they had their update email. And this is only a guess from me - I could be...
I haven't heard back. Their last email said we'd hear if we got through so I'd assume that we're not through. Last year, they said a similar thing - update that they'd contact successful applicants by the 20th and then rejected me on the 21st. So, my prediction would be a rejection tomorrow.
If you applied for the Summer Scheme in the 2019- 2020 cycle and were successful, but got postponed to 2021 then you can apply for the 2021 Training Contract cycle for a 2023 start London or 2022 start elsewhere. If you applied during the 2020-21 cycle for a Summer Scheme then you can't apply...
You can't apply to Fieldfisher for their summer scheme and for their TC. If you've applied for the summer scheme this cycle then you can't get a training contract until next year.
Thank you - I will do. I honestly can't express how helpful this forum is. I have an AC this week for a 2022 TC start anyway so fingers crossed I get that but, if not, I'll ask at interview and hope for the best. Let's be honest, if I get a 2023 TC then there's a 0% chance I'll be complaining...
Thanks. To be clear, I adore my employer - I just hate my job. It's a non-legal job and just does not suit me at all. Love my colleagues, love my employer, love everyone around me - dear LORD I hate my job though.
You're absolutely spot on correct that I meant a TC. Clearly my tired arse subconscious doesn't even let me talk about getting a TC in hypotheticals because it's never gonna happen ahaha. Thanks.
Hi @Jessica Booker
If I secure a training contract with a 2023 start but would prefer to start in 2022, I know firms will often facilitate people to jump ahead if they have people pull out or fail the LPC or have spaces for whatever reason. How would I broach with a firm the idea of starting...
I have an AC coming up this week and the information on their website majorly contradicts what we've been told via email. Is it reasonable to email GR and ask some questions and get some clarification on things? For example, online they've said there will be a written exercise but there's no...
I have a weird, foreign, non-phonetic name. I have recently (within the last few years) begun using a shorter, phonetic abbreviation. Is it ok to use my abbreviation with firms or not?
