Regarding 7. law firms pay for your travel expenses to and from an AC - my flights from Madrid are being paid for by Macfarlanes for instance! Normally they say anything upwards of £150 but if you often explain your individual circumstances they can be quite accommodating!

Haha completely agree but I guess some firms place emphasis on different things e.g. some require really good academics, others are more interested in a more rounded individual with good ECs and work experience etc.

A book I've really enjoyed reading recently is Joe Navarro 'What EVERY Body is saying' - really interesting insight into human body language and how to read people which is always helpful for a whole host of situations. Multiple PDF's online of the whole book if you don't mind reading on a screen!

No I think it further demonstrates your interest in law! You could then mention how you learnt about a particular practice area at Clifford Chance which interests you and then are applying to White & Case as it has an excellent reputation in that field e.g. Capital Markets
