I emailed them earlier this week and they got back to me saying my application is in the second stage of review (not sure what this means) and that they'd respond by the end of May!
I can imagine this (students not being able to commit to alternative dates) would be a problem for a lot of firms hence why thy are really taking their time to make a decision. Virtual schemes do offer flexibility here though, as they tend to be shorter and relocation isn't required.
I do agree that completing a vac scheme in the same office building as others would be more of a level playing field, as a crowded room can be distracting amongst other things.

Not everyone will have access to stable wifi unfortunately, making it difficult to hold video calls and the like. I am hopeful that firms will be understanding of this!

HL's approach imo now looks better as you at the very least (if you do not get a TC)...
This is what I’d have thought but social distancing is likely to remain in place, which in theory makes it difficult to attend socials and interact with others on the scheme.
Virtual schemes and TC interviews/offers seem more likely but I guess all options are open as things stand!
With social distancing measures expected to last till the end of the year even after the lockdown has been lifted, is it a realistic possibility that all summer schemes will be cancelled and HL’s approach will be followed by others?
