2020-21 Direct Training Contract Applications Discussion

It's hard and you are completely justified in feeling burnt out. Just reading about all the things you're doing made me tired. If a law firm doesn't see your worth, it's their loss.

2020-21 Direct Training Contract Applications Discussion

Don't measure your worth and intelligence by how well you can fit shapes into other shapes in 10 second intervals. I'm sure someone is going to tell me that there is a lot of empirical evidence about how mobile games a great way to recruit blah blah blah, but I think it's weird and stupid and...

2020-21 Direct Training Contract Applications Discussion

To add to what Elle W already said, you also have no idea how well you did. I almost quit part way through the games because I thought I was doing terribly and ended up with really high scores in the end. Chin up :)

    PGDL at BPP is awful

I have neither the time nor patience to break down the comment word for word. You not getting it says far more about you than it does us.

    PGDL at BPP is awful

"If you take a load of 2.1 graduates, place them in a high-pressure environment where they need to treat it as a 9-5 job to do well, of course, people will complain." Jessica, I say this with as much respect as I can possibly muster, but please don't give advice on reading comprehension.

    PGDL at BPP is awful

To touch on your first point, people were unhappy about not being given materials because it was something the university had promised them at the beginning of term before enrollment, and then had exams be open book without actually giving students the books needed. From a diverrsity and...

    PGDL at BPP is awful

I don't understand what there is to not agree with. I am not speaking from opinion. I am speaking about the actual data, particularly what was released by the Office for Students recently. I accept that there are various factors involves and am open to the fact that I may be misinterpreting...

    PGDL at BPP is awful

And yet the private providers are ranked among the very worst in nearly every metric when you look at the raw data. So I thinks it's a bit of a false equivalence Not to mention that graduate employment is a very specifically defined term....

    PGDL at BPP is awful

Naturally but I would expect better from an educational institution.

    PGDL at BPP is awful

I still find it incredibly misleading. They're touting those numbers on their site which is actively marketing undergraduate courses as well.

    PGDL at BPP is awful

Theres a new article on the telegraph which says that BPP also fudges their graduate outcome numbers. BPP claims that 98.1% of their graduates are in employment or further study on their website, but the article says 69.2% of BPP students have failed to secure anything of the sort. Link...

Are there any law firms that don't ask for your module grades?

Unless you failed it outright, its unlikely that a single module grade will be the deciding factor in whether or not you get past the application stage.

    "legal influencers" on linkedin

I don't think they are any more qualified to offer advice than any other person who has managed to secure a TC. What's even weirder though are legal influencers who have yet to even secure a TC or pupillage. To me they all seem like narcissistic attention seekers, but that's my opinion on any...

    ULaw or BPP for LPC?

In non-pandemic times, an in person LPC at Ulaw would also have in person exams. Can't say what the approach will be over the next year though.

ULaw is open book for the LPC even in non-pandemic times.

    ULaw or BPP for LPC?

    1. They haven't based on everything I've heard from friends currently enroled on the course. 2. Fairly similar. Both are hot garbage more often than not. Tutors are hit or miss: some will be excellent, others won't care. They stick to very set lessons and powerpoints so there isn't much in the...

I've had a think and my friend @Tim Buktu who is still TC hunting is probably better served with a month of premium :) Thank you again!

Free Month of TCLA Premium (Bronze) - Every Week From Monday!

Thank you for the gesture, it is very appreciated, but I already have a training contract lined up (though I am lacking a future trainee badge) and don't think I'll get much use out of it. I just lurk the forums to offer advice (and hot takes) when I feel I have something worth adding. Could I...
