I've been in the car all day, just stopped for a break and to check in here - it's so amazing to see so many of you supporting each other here!
This has been an extraordinarily tough cycle and there's no shame whatsoever in feeling burnt out and disenfranchised.
Hope you all have a wonderful...
I woukd substantively agree with all Jess' points raised above.
For me, this is a forward-looking question really asking about how to improve in the future. I think focusing on the pandemic in and of itself probably wouldn't be great here. As mentioned, find specific examples here rather than...
Jess' points are absolute bang on in terms of virtual prep and conduct tips.
If youre looking for some more info on prepping for a negotiation in particular, feel free to check out my Definitive Guide to Assessed Negotiations available via the link in my signature below this comment, if you're...
Tbh I'm quite critical of online tests like these - I think they can give very arbitrary results that are quite disconnected from the real world and how candidates actually are in person.
I've also never looked into the research or anything but, instinctively, I can't help but feel these sorts...
To be honest, there isn't a huge amount for me to add here.
From a technical perspective, my outlook hasn't substantively changed since we discussed this away back in February (wait... February was nearly four months ago?!?!). I do feel we're getting towards the point where the market is soon...
2024 will be next cycle I think - firms generally recruit 2 years in advance. @Jessica Booker will advise if I've got my numbers mixed up, though - I can barely count to ten so it's a distinct possibility :)
There's a lot to consider in when making decisions like this, so I can't tell you what's best to do, but I can give you a few things I would be considering in the 'balancing act' if I were in your position:
How much do I need the job? Do I need it because I have a mortgage/ rent obligation and...
Hey! So I can't speak for IM specifically, but, as general prep, I've written a few articles covering different components of the AC which may be of help to you! These are all accessible via the link in my signature at the bottom of this comment :)
Best of luck!
Sorry I've just re-read your initial post and realised I was reading it as if you'd asked "do I need to worry about no confirmation emails?" - I'm on a different planet today... more coffee required!!!
I can't speak for the tests side of things, but check your application portal if you didn't get a confirmation email as it may just update there without sending further emails.
Not specific to Harbottle, but the interview preparation article available in the link in my signature is quite a good place to start for most interviews if you're not already familiar with it :)
To be honest this is why I'm a massive fan of 2-person interviews. I've had a couple of interviews in the past where I've felt throughout that the interviewer was jumping around, asking stuff it didn't seem reasonable to know etc - having a second interviewer in the room would have provided a...
First off, your folks had wonderful taste in baby names, 10/10 commendable name choice.
I would tend to say that these are all great opportunities and it really ought to come down to what you feel you'll enjoy the most and take the most from. FWIW, from a practicality perspective, as things...
I'm tending to err towards agreement with Jess here.
The willingness to make sacrifices like salary to take a more 'legal' job is admirable, but, personally, I think it runs the risk of taking a gamble on what might be in the future and it may not end up working out like that. If you have a...
I always treated this section as a catch-all for instances of things which I felt were relevant to my application which I hadn't had the chance to put elsewhere :)
As Daniel says, if they're applicable to the situation and you feel happy enough discussing them, then mentioning them is absolutely fine. Just be aware, though, that anything you bring up essentially makes it fair game for further pressing and questioning so don't mention something unless...
Think you're answering your own question :)
If the opportunity cost is low, you've done the bulk of the work, and there's nothing to lose if you get knocked back, it would certainly make sense to me to send off the application.
