Just got a V&E vac scheme offer. My first ever vac scheme.

This last year has been rough for a variety of personal reasons - this week was especially difficult, as a family member passed away suddenly. But I just wanted to thank every one of you who has posted something that's made me laugh, smile, and feel supported. I hope I've been able to do that for some of you, as well.
Delighted for you. Well done :)

Any advice on how to not be a nervous wreck on your vac scheme? I think it’s my barrier to not doing well. Seriously thinking of taking a shot of vodka each morning at this point just to stop the jitters :D
At some point during app season I just accepted that I was nervous and took it as a sign of me caring about my career (which I guess is a good thing?😅)

Also try clueing in those around you as to how you're feeling. It can be hard to open up when you're feeling vulnerable but oftentimes that's when you need to most.

Would also suggest that you do things to decompress every day of your VS- whether it's watching a movie, going for a walk, doing a hobby that calms you- whatever helps.

Wishing you the best- you've got this! 💪

really thought I was done with this cycle, because my Mishcon VI went so poorly so I'd ruled it out. I guess Im back in the game 😂

Hi! I’ve just been invited to VI. Would you mind saying how many and the types (competency/motivational/situational) of questions you got in your Mischon VI?

Is it wrong to describe a law firm as a ‘mid sized commercial firm’ when comparing it to its competitors?
I would personally angle it more in the way that it is large enough for you to interact with high clients/do high profiled work, but not too large that your training contract is one of a big mass. If they are a regional firm I'd focus on that, or if they have a specific niche (ie a boutique firm in West London) I'd talk about that!
