Second update of the week!! ✨

Today I got the call that I was successful in getting a graduate job!!!! woooooo🎉

Two weeks ago, I was unsuccessful post-interview. Although I had passed the interview itself, I was put on the reserve list and was told I could stay on it or I could apply for a different role. It's funny because before this happened, I was already going to transfer my application to said role. It's funny how life works, and I'm so happy.

It's a good company. It's a corporate role. It's in London. I can breathe. It has been a crazy few months with all these applications, and yes, my degree has been jeopardised in many ways, but it has honestly been worth it because if I don't convert any of these vacation schemes, I know that I have a job in September, and law is not for me haha 😅.

Perseverance is key. I've taken every rejection as redirection. Receiving this news as I'm currently on an AC is so fitting; I just had an amazing partner interview!!😄 I don't know what type of luck I've had this year, but I needed it.​

I passed Bakers post app review for the first time!

V&E - met GR at a law fair really like the firm and have experience in energy, sad but i’ll apply there laterally if energy is my calling.

Weil a little gutted as I met their GR at a law fair and we bonded well, I did do my VI whilst abroad and on the brink of death nonetheless happy to have made it to VI.

Received Freshfields WG after their reasonable adjustments saga will attempt this weekend however I anticipate a rejection email next week so they’re going to stay in my rejection pile.​

I’ve had a pretty rough few days!

Post AC rejection for direct TC, it hurts as I travelled far and wide to get to the AC on a lack of sleep. I believed I performed well! Maybe not as well as I thought. Compared to the vacation scheme ACs I felt more confident in this one and was rejected 😭😭😭 to know I had the chance of getting a TC and lost it once again hurtssssss ☹️ This is the second direct TC AC I’ve had this I’ve not converted. We were told out of 2000 applications we were the final 13, this hurts even more.😖

Beyond this I’ve suffered racial abuse at my place of work by the managers for several weeks/months that has really got to me!! Which is lovely i guess 😅 not ideal but we move 🙂‍↕️

Someone on the forum said “2 vacation schemes and no TC.” This really hurt! It made me think about myself and if I’m worthy of a TC. I’ve heard/seen people go on about diversity hire etc and it scares me that one day IF I am given a TC will it be a diversity stunt or because I’m actually worthy of the job?

I truly believe this cycle has taken more of a toll on my mental health than the last. I’ve sacrificed a lot within the past year to getting a TC and I’m starting to think none of it was worth it despite my recent success. This isn’t about resilience more so how I’m feeling emotionally about process. 🫠 Low key feel like I’m drowning in all of this.

I’m yet to hear from 2 firms post AC and I think I’ll get a rejection from both as they’ve both given offers post AC. This is okay! I am still waiting post app/test/VI for numerous other firms, many I applied to in October…

On a positive note, I’m going skiing soon and I’m looking forward to it I think 😀 I did an SJT and scored 27/36 best results to date. I have a competition this weekend and I’m slightly dreading it but equally keen to get back into the competitive mindset.

Girl don’t think about it like that. Getting 2 VS is an achievement in itself and don’t be disheartened because of your cycle is not over yet!

For sure. The person who replied saying that likely has no idea what this process is like and hasn’t managed to secure a VS before themselves: lots of people have a misguided view that getting the VS is the hard part and after that the TC gets handed to you which is not the case.
