Hi, anyone have any advice for this?
Or anyone else got this far?

2. Interview – your interview will last approximately 45 minutes. We will be looking for evidence of the skills and attributes we feel are necessary to be a successful commercial lawyer.

3. Business simulation exercise – Using the laptop, you will have 60 minutes to work through an inbox containing various emails and tasks. You will then discuss your approach with a lawyer in a 15-minute debrief.

4. Case study – Using the laptop, you will be asked to read through various documents regarding a client matter. You will have 45 minutes to review the case study and prepare to present your findings to an assessor, during a 25-minute debrief.

Hey,

Well done on getting the AC.

Interview -this will likely be your standard competency and motivational questions. My main tip - when talking about your experiences, bring out what specific skills and things you learnt, which will help you succeed as a trainee. Proactivity? Organisational management? Knowledge you gained about a law firm’s clients/commercial awareness? Mention it and always remember to link it to how you endeavour to add value to their firm. At the end of it, you could ask your interviewers thoughtful questions that aren’t easily accessible online. Like insights about their own practice or their thoughts on something you discussed prior.

Business simulation - look at the question first. Not everything you are given will be relevant, so adjust your reading approach to making notes and comments of the relevant things you want to discuss in the debrief. It’s only 15 minutes, so you will need to start with the strongest points first.

Case study - same advice as with the simulation, only that this may require more structure. It’s a presentation, so starting with the appropriate formalities, saying what you’re going to cover, introduction to issues, your findings (assessing pros and cons of going ahead with a deal, for example), conclusion (brief and covering why you are standing on a specific point).

Goodluck!

Hi!

Thank you so much for this reply, I did it on the 25th so fingers crossed it went well.

Hi!

I hope you get through!

I have an AC for PM in Birmingham on Wednesday. Could I ask you how specific you felt knowledge regarding commercial terms was needed in your case study? Eg, did you feel you needed in-depth knowledge of financing options, contractual elements, etc?

Thanks!

Hi, I have a VC assessment centre this week for Pinsent Mason. Could you give me some tips on your experience? Interview question areas? Many thanks!
