Hi everyone,
I am an international student, just completed my LLM and in the process of applying for paralegal positions. I hope I can find a mentor who can help me during the process. I have contacted my university's career service, tailored my CV according to the job descriptions but still haven't received any positive response. Therefore, I hope I can find someone who can help me with the process, provide guidance so that I can land my dream job.
I would appreciate any guidance or advice that will help increase my chance of landing the role.
Thank you!

Hiya @An Vu

My apologies for the delayed response! I'm sorry we didn't answer this sooner for you. However, I wanted to take the time to share some suggestions that might be helpful :)

First, it sounds like you’ve already taken some great steps by working with your university's career service and tailoring your CV. I'd encourage you to keep going with these resources! I think with persistence and the right support, you’ll get there!

Finding informal mentors can be tricky, especially when you’re starting out, but there are some excellent organisations that provide support and often run structured mentorship programmes. One of the first mentorship programmes I joined was with Aspiring Solicitors, and it was absolutely pivotal for my professional development. I applied for and completed a mentorship programme, which allowed me to work one-on-one with a partner specialising in project finance at a boutique law firm. These sort of experiences not only helped me understand the London legal market but also gave me great insights into the application process and how to position myself as a strong candidate. I've also heard great things about SEO's Corporate Law programme and you can find their resources here.

I’d also highly recommend exploring the services offered by TCLA. Aside from the forum itself, I really appreciated TCLA's application review and mock interview services. These really, really allowed me to better understand my own skills, experiences, and helped me learn how to bring my best self to interview.

Wishing you the best of luck, and feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!
