    Hello everyone :)

Just to introduce myself: I'm a postgraduate studying an MA in Law, after finishing a three-year degree in Music Management. Currently aspiring to focus either at a boutique firm, or in-house, within music. The dream job would be to secure a legal internship at one of the majors (Sony, Warner or Universal). Also really interested in Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
Other interests include fashion, media, technology (NFT's and how tech is used in the art world).

Would love to get to know anyone else who is interested in similar areas!

    TTFN x

Hi @Noodles52, it is great to hear about your interests! I am a PGDL student right now beginning my training contract in 2023 and I just finished a master's in music (piano performance) last year. I have always been interested in music management although I have no professional experience in that area so I do not have great advice, but someone on the PGDL with me chose to train at Lewis Silkin because of their specialism in music! I hope you are able to find your legal niche and it is wonderful to meet someone else with a passion for music 😊

Your background is so interesting- kudos to you for posting here too! 👏 👏 👏 I remember @the_creativelawyer back from my Instagram blogging days as someone working at a firm called Brandsmiths and having a really interesting perspective on legal cases and issues in creative industries. Would recommend checking their Instagram out to see if they still post actively!

Just to flag there is a really interesting music paralegal role currently being advertised on totally legal! Might be worth looking into!

Thank you for this! I had a quick look and I'm not sure it 100% matches my criteria as I'm in Manchester and have little legal work experience unfortunately, but it does sound like a very cool job. I'll mention to others who I know are interested in that area too :)

Thank you! It's interesting to hear from other peoples' backgrounds and legal interests, but I see so few about media and entertainment.

I completely get that! I remember a tutor of mine at ULaw who worked in media and entertainment for years before shifting to teaching said that because it's more of a niche area of practice that you have to work harder to find perspectives from within it. You've done really well by posting here to find people who share the same interests/career goals as yours 👏 👏 👏 If you haven't already, I'd also suggest reaching out to graduate recruitment/people working at firms and companies that specialise/practice in this area to gain different perspectives about careers paths in media and entertainment. And please keep us in the loop- I am so keen to see all your goals materialise and you flourish in your career choice! 😇
