    Struggling with answering this question!

I understand what commercial awareness is and I know how to relate it to law firms eg coronavirus means that many businesses will be wanting to implement force majeure, which law firms will have to assist with

but I am unsure how to 'show' commercial awareness in a particular situation

I understand that obviously no one will know my situations but an example of someone else's use of commercial awareness would help, as I could then analyse my own experiences

Being commercially aware is knowing about the business world around you and ensuring that that knowledge is implemented in the advice (or action) you give (complete).

Here is a very basic example of how you could weave this into an answer:

I worked at Starbucks. I understand that customer satisfaction is important in driving sales/growth. I noticed that customers were becoming frustrated as we could not serve drinks in line with the rate they were being ordered. I understood the long term implications of this (fewer customers/revenue). I implemented a new ordering system (Or whatever) which ensured customers accessed their drinks faster. As a result, sales went up by X.

Think about any times you have had to provide excellent customer service

Think about any times you have had to market something (an event, a charity fundraiser, a product, a service)

Think about anytime you have had to work in a commercial environment (one of the strongest commercial awareness answers I experienced was someone who worked in Tesco and understood what was influencing their business).

Think about anytime you have had to negotiate an agreement with someone (e.g. a venue for a social event)

Undoubedtly with both of the above there will be elements of having to think commercially to ensure success

    Hi guys

I am struggling with a similar question: "give an example of a time you demonstrated the following attributes: we are commercial, efficient and effective". With regards to being commercial... I feel this is quite broad? I was wondering how others interpret "commercial" in this context and if anyone could think of a simple example that satisfies this.

    Thanks :)
