Tell the firm that is making you wait a few weeks that you got another offer. It'll make them hurry upHi guys, bit of advice needed. I've received a TC offer with a deadline of Tuesday the 10th. Another firm told me they'll get back to me in a few weeks. Is it standard practice to request an extension to the TC acceptance deadline or do firms hate it and it will reflect badly on me? Thanks a lot!
Hi, you should have received an email on the day you took your test with a link to return to the test in case you had any technical issues! If you click on that link, you can check as it should take you to a page that tells you the test has already been completedjust completed the watson glaser test for Freshfields yesterday but have received an email reminding me to take it this morning - does anyone know how I can check that its all gone through etc at I can't see anything about it on my application portal? Do they usually send an email after completion?
(i've emailed grad rec to check but the deadline is 5pm today so im worried they might not get back to me in time)
For the direct TC process for FF, do you know how long they take to get back to you after WG?Hi, you should have received an email on the day you took your test with a link to return to the test in case you had any technical issues! Mine was updated on the 19th July, but I've not heard anything!I’m really confused by freshfields! My portal still hasn’t updated from 16th July! Is anyone in the same position?

Have you both received the WG yet?Mine was updated on the 19th July, but I've not heard anything!
Thanks! Maybe the best approach is for me to brush up lol!Honesty is the best policy!
I also have a second language (which I used to be fluent in but now rusty). I always put intermediate/advanced level in my application forms. Chances are you will never be tested on it at interview (unless it was a language requirement), however, if its any anecdote I was quite randomly tested on my second language in a VS interview (with no language requirement) as my interviewer was fluent in it. If it were not for being honest in my application form I would have probably been caught out!
Better to undersell than to oversell. Firms will ask for your language capabilities and list those internally. If client work comes up where they require your language skills, you can be assigned to a matter based on those language skills. If it's a matter of being rusty and just needing a chance to catch up there's no harm in listing it as 'intermediate', those skills come back faster than you think. I speak five languages, and the ones I don't feel confident working in I have listed as 'elementary' or 'conversationally proficient', as opposed to 'native' or 'full working proficiency'.Hi, does anyone know whether firms test you on the languages you list in your applications? I can speak a second language (my mother tongue) but I'm rusty - I don't want to undersell myself but if they do test then I would be even more wary of overselling
same here!Mine was updated on the 19th July, but I've not heard anything!
That's very helpful, thank you! and kudos to you for speaking five languages - that's amazing!Better to undersell than to oversell. Call them and see if you can get an answer over the phone. If not, do the test tomorrow.I applied to Stephenson Harwood and received an 'online critical reasoning test' today! 2 questions on this:
1. Has anyone who applied to SH have any insight on what the test entails- I've browsed the website but haven't been able to glean much details. (Also, is it automatic?)
2. The deadline is within 48 hours- I have just taken my vaccine and feel quite whoozy. I've already emailed them this to let them know and perhaps ask for another deadline. However, I'm worried that they won't see my email until the deadline has passed, seeing as its the weekend. Should I just do the test in the meantime? @Jessica Booker or anyone with experience with Grad Rec, perhaps you could give some insight?
Thanks Jess! I've tried calling but no one answered- will try again later!Call them and see if you can get an answer over the phone. If not, do the test tomorrow.
Congrats on the VI. When did you apply? I still haven't heard back post-app and its driving me crazyHas anyone heard back from Addleshaw Goddard/know the rough timeline post video interview (direct TC)?
