Here’s what I had in my notes (although not the best response in an interview I think);
Headline deals, high-profile clients, in an amalgam of different industries.I’m specifically interested in the corporate and finance work which arises from mega-deals because they can be industry-defining...
Hi marriistm,
I had this exact situation in my final year and was afraid of graduating with no job and nothing over the summer. For me I got some work at a start-up as a legal assistant. There are many many smaller start-ups out there in need of some legal talent — they likely won’t be able to...
If you want some insight into practice areas I would suggest watching some of Clifford Chance's On-Demand Videos, they have individual talks for some of their practice areas (including Corporate and Finance but also more niche like Real Estate) which might give you a bit of insight into what...
Yet another YouTube video that I really enjoyed and came into use when answering questions about “what option might a company have when it is struggling / when it wants to defend against a hostile takeover” !!
I had to turn down a spring vac scheme offer and they responded on 22 February with acknowledgment — so I would assume at least some firms will still be finalising attendee lists and contacting reserve lists :)!
I personally never spent more than one whole week ahead of an AC to spend prepping for that particular firm!! (others might have taken a different approach which works for them better, this was just me and also I am in the middle of term for a notoriously busy degree so couldn’t afford to take...
Are you at university? Often universities have organisations or partnerships with organisations where alumni and partner businesses can offer info and where you can network with other entrepreneurs / potential hires etc!!
Hi jmosk!!
I got asked this during one of my ACs, and wasn't expecting it at all but think I came up with a decent response so wanted to share my example.
I grew up exclusively (before university) in a very conservative country where the education and professional world are very hierarchical...
Thanks a lot for your insight!
I agree with the work-life balance element, but work-life balance doesn't always seem like it corresponds with salary (if Legal Cheek is in any way reliable at all). Does anyone have any insight on the accuracy of these stats?
Hey everyone,
Please let me know if this is not the right place to ask this!
I am ahead of making some key decisions and I was wondering if I could get some insight from the community. I'm just curious whether other people have any strong opinions on this.
How important is NQ and...
Hi Yuki! I have done this before — they had to put me on a waiting list because both were full but got back to me a few days later saying they could move me. If you need to change it I think nothing to lose if you just ask :))
It seems to depend on the AC! Some types I have experienced:
- Document checking exercise (not content review but typos, formatting and grammar errors etc)
- Writing a recommendation to a client based on materials, then discussing it with partners as part of the interview
- Writing an email...
Once I accidentally came up with (what I thought was) a catchy slogan in a group exercise which was clearly very much innuendo in hindsight ... I thought about it every night before I went to sleep
I think this depends on the firm but both firms I have offers with have allowed me extensions by a few months so I can explore my options (and one has even considered extending so I can do a summer VS). Hope this gives you some peace of mind :)
